The BB store that got hit here in Vegas 2 weeks ago kept the Rolex watches in the case close to the exit. I will assume they might want to rethink that.

This is getting out of hand... No excuse for this to be happening all over the country at all. Hopefully law enforcement will take this seriously and crack down on these ridiculous robberies.

Use a gun go to prison used to be a California slogan and i still think its in effect, doesnt matter what kind of gun! As for the silly comment about not feeling sorry for the store, he lives in La Jolla where that kinda stuff doesnt happen.... i mean a Panerai boutique is opening up there within the next week!

You would think they would be more interested in diamonds much smaller in size and none of those pesky serial numbers although I understand that diamonds are now being etched with serial's as well

On the contrary, a BB by La Jolla (Fashion Valley) was robbed a couple of months ago. Same exact situation - the thieves sledgehammered the glass in open daylight and made off with all the Rolex on display.
I'm obviously not supporting violent acts, but it gives me a sense of karma that this happened to the same BB who suggested I was wearing a fake watch. Quote:

Looks like organised criminals are as busy as ever and it would appear that the US is among the favorite places to do " business " these days, very unfortunate.

With several of these brazen thefts around the country in recent months, I wonder how long it will take before a TRF member will be sold a stolen Rolex. Any deals too good to be true on real, current model LNIB Rolex watches should be looked at with additional skepticism.
I would imagine the thieves will have targeted the precious metal Rolex watches...DD's, and solid gold Subs/GMT's in particular. Maybe diamond dials too....

It may be that a couple of them may be headed for the `hood and they will never surface legitimately but most if not all of them have been exported. |

The problem is that; 1) diamonds have a smaller market to sell into for the thieves. Ordinary people are not likely to shell out big bucks for diamond jewelry from a stranger..they are very hard for the average joke to authenticate and value. Rolex watches are much easier to authenticate and value by an average person as their MSRP value is well known. 2) Domestically, the same people who would wear fake rolexes are probably the target market for stolen rolexes as the same principle applies...they count on the fact that no one can really verify the fake or stolen watch usually unless they take if off their wrists. The only difference is someone wearing a stolen Rolex may try and pass it off as a replica.

My first guess would be Asia, most likely China. They will probably get there in the cabin of a Chinese merchant seaman. My second guess would be Russia via DHL/FedEx.

........first of all, this reminds us that crimes of all kinds are happening every day as people become more "desperate", but secondly, as we wear and enjoy the watches we so dearly love and have worked hard to own, THAT BECAUSE OF THE EASE OF SELLING THEM WITHOUT PAPERS, BOXES, ETC., this sets us up to be targets PERSONALLY......stay aware of your surroundings and be careful out there............

What a shame, I hope the authorities catch them and recover all the watches stolen. I know here on the east coast high end cars are stolen and shipped to the former Soviet Republics. I didnt think Rolex was that popular in Russia, my uncle told me that the watch to own in Russia is a Patek Phillipe.

Maybe these crimes will spur Rolex USA to improve its serial number records and tracking system with regard to stolen watches.

Well, the serial numbers are already on the watches, so what else can they possibly do to track them? Unless some sort of electronic device in each watch

Establishing a easy to access verification system that would let you know if a rolex watch was reported stolen by its last LEGAL owner.

In California, the law makes no distinction between use of a real or replica gun. If the victims thought it was a real gun at the time of the crime, that's all that is all that is nessisary for the firearms enhancement in sentencing.

I don't think that you should ban crass, obtuse or ignorent people just because you don't like them when they show their true nature. I just choose to call them out on who and what they are and then ignore them, leaving them to their own special karma which they usually so richly deserve.

Funny how "lovers" were the ones who instigated the entire aggression on banning. Bit contradictory, no? On the other hand, I was merely expressing my sentiments on the matter - that I do not feel bad at all about the situation. Robberies happen everyday, and especially in a case in which no one was harmed, I fail to see why I should give a **** about Ben Bridge. After all, I don't cry myself to sleep with all the other real problems happening in the world - you know, the ones about people fighting to survive or making end's meet? I feel bad when everyday mom and pop liquor stores are robbed at gunpoint, not when a bunch of pompous employees selling insured product are robbed with BB guns. Laugh, live a little. |
