Icon10 A milestone for my son!

A few days ago, as I went through my watch-cleaning routine (do not ask, you know what I mean ) my 9 year old son sat next to me and started asking questions about watches. He knows I am a WIS and he has several of his own.

We spoke a lot about automatic vs quartz watches, and he was specially interested in one: A Swatch Body & Soul that I had bought 12 years ago and was sitting in the safe (with box, papers and original purchase receipt). The conversation continued for over an hour.

I later heard that he had told my wife that he wanted an automatic, transparent Swatch; so I decided to speed up the process and give him my Swatch.

His face brightened up as he smiled and put his 'new' watch on. His promise: to take care of it and to WEAR IT. It is amazing how something so simple can make us feel SOOOOO great!

Here is our wrist shot!

(Mods: sorry for mis-posting @ FS section)....

My son said something similar, "dad, when are you going to die so I can have your watches?"

Cute story. Does that jersey say Messi at the back? IIRC, you guys went to the United-Barca match in DC last summer (I was there too).

As I mentioned before, he knows all my watches are his (except the ones 'mommy' has taken from me!). He loves 'complicated' watches. My DD....no interest. My Daytona he likes. Ditto for JLC

No, his Barca jersey does. He likes soccer jerseys (quite an expensive hobby!). Yes, we were there, with matching jerseys!!!!

Very cool story - My first child, a son, is due in one month. I'll be interested to find out if he picks up any of my hobbies.

That is really neat! My son is only 9 months old so I'm a bit away from that, but I still can't wait!

Here's to him wearing it in good health
