It certainly makes me very appreciative that I'm not afflicted with this kind of paranoia or manifest so many fears and worries over things I buy, be it watches, cars or whatever.
This thread has become way too judgemental.

Replies like the one above are way out of line and not in the spirit of this forum.

If I were the OP I would just let these idiots get on with it and not take the bait. They know you are feeling bad about this and are enjoying it. It must make them feel better about their own insecurities.

PS I would have declined the offer of a clean too.

Another thread that has gone way out in left field and should be closed. Little judgmental as @astranzen pointed out and I can see @KJacques side too. Yes, after being on this forum for over a year now and reading, some people should not own anything nice at all. It just rules their world and they don't own it, it owns them.

Just now saw this thread. What is wrong with allowing someone who handles/cleans jewelry/watches for a living, clean my watch? Beats me.

Okay, I got it. If anyone of you gets an offer from a jeweler to clean your watch but you don't want them to, just say something like, .........

Oh wait. I just remembered...

I made a joke last week and recieved a conflagration of a reprimand from some moderator with a warning and some sort of citation.

<A-HEM!> Just politely decline.

A better idea is to offer the client water and roofy them and just switch their watch for an authentic 1 year older.
Lol. Lol again.

maybe she wanted to check it against the stolen database, or perhaps she wanted to make you a cash offer, or perhaps insert a special tracking device :)

i wonder if anyone has handed over a fake watch to a person like her for a cleaning... when she returns they freak the F out and call the cops. i bet this kind of fraud has happened to these retailers. its more risky for the retailer to agree to touch women's diamond rings than anything else.

anyway, why someone would let anyone ultrasonic a watch like this is beyond me. Dont you guys buy Softsoap like everyone else? take a shower and scrub it down.

My wife and I were shopping at Mcabes and the owner offered to clean my watch and my wife's engagement ring.
They really sparkled up the ring but no way I was giving up my GMT TTc.

He accepted my 'no thank you' just as I would have.

x2 Grady.

I still am not sure about the strap size on my 231??

If Mayors wanted to clean my watch for free hell yeah!!! If she wanted to switch my watch for a new one go a head, I have no problem with ADs asking to see my watch I always asked to see theirs. If it was somebody on the streets than no.
