It's state high school hockey tournament time!

The Minnesota State High School hockey tournament is on TV for the next three days. It's a good thing the tourney is televised, because tickets are tough to come by. 20,000 plus people watched game one today at 11 AM at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul. It's one of my favorite weeks of the year. GO MOORHEAD!

Huge crowd for high school sports! Love the fact there is such a following. I was always bummed there was very little organized hockey in Montana.

Thats just bitchen. I can't believe a turn out like that for a high school sporting event. I LOVE going to high school games, my favorite by far is watching my son play Lacrosse.

The record for one year tournament attendance was 120,000 a few years ago. It's the largest school sports tournament in the US. The TV announcers are the top hockey sportscasters (including Howard Cosell in the early 1980s) and tickets are scalped outside the arena for huge dollars.

The Shattuck alumni roster is pretty deep in talent:

Sidney Crosby
Zach Parise
Drew Stafford
Jonathon Toews
Derek Stepan
Kyle Okposo
Ryan Malone
Jack Johnson
Matt Smaby
Ty Conklin
Jordan Parise
