Rolex 5513 purchase advice????

Hello,

I am looking to buy this rough old 5513 Submariner with a 2.6 million serial. Seller is asking $3000 CDN. It is on a 1969 bracelet, and with no box or papers. I a guess I am hoping for some discussion about the originality of the dial and handset, as well as the bezel/insert. I understand there are numerous variations on service dials and can't determine if this dial is correct for the serial and period?

Thanks for any expert advice, and if you feel the price if fair considering the lck of box and original bracelet.

The Sub looks nice from the pic and has a FF insert... But we will need more pics to make a true determination...

I would wait for the experts but that is a steal! meters first, no surrounds nice patina. Only the pearl worries me. And would be nice to see pics of the lugs and serial. Love the acrylic.

Its a feet first, and if in good condition, no matter what the dial and hands are, if they are genuine, for that age is quite cheap. The bezel needs to be certified, the pearl needs to be checked, and if you like an oyster bracelet, this will mean anothe 300-500 Euros. Also another 300 Euros for a service.

So, if you like the watch, and it is "clean", I would buy.

I do not see it from the point of investment, I see it as a daily wearer, for a classic that I love. Here is mine, almost perfect, purchased new by me back in 1984.

Great watch -- assuming the movement is sound. I've had my 5513 since new (2,67x,xxx) and its been a daily wearer for much of the past 40 years -- and that hasn't been as a desk jockey or weekend jewelry. To my eye, from your photo, it looks original, including the twinlok crown. The camfer on the case looks unpolished!

Mine just came back from a full overhaul by RSC in Toronto and looks and runs like new -- but with that great vintage look your's has. And it has a 2-year guarantee, which is good as new!

An overhaul by Rolex and an original 9150 bracelet could run you another $1,000+ and likely closer to $2,000, if you want to add that into your purchase price. But if you do, you have a watch that is good for many more years.

Please send us more pics.
For example, it is important to check if the case was not over polished.
I also need to check the shape of the case.
If the watch is legid (what can only be confirmed with other pics) the price is very attractive IMO.
