My First Rolex

Hi Guys
Just aquired my first Rolex , joined the forum when I got my first Tudor and haven't posted for a while as it has been a while coming , but now i've finally got one.
I bought it from my local auction house and was told it was from 1964 ,but after removing the bracelet it appears to be from 1955 from its 107**** serial number (or thats what i have found so far please correct me if i'm mis informed) 6694 model.
Anyway to say i'm pleased is a huge understatement and it hasn't been off my wrist since i got it.
Heres a few pics , any constructive comments most appreciated
many thanks
andy

That is a great looking watch, I would love a circa 1964 watch as this is my birth year.

Instantly recognisable and a bloody good find.

Wear it in good health Jules.

1964 would actually be correct. I'm wondering if the dial might be a refinish (albeit a nice one), as all the examples I've seen from that era say "-T Swiss T-" not "-T Swiss Made T-". Does the lume on yours glow (like luminova) when exposed to bright light?

I had a (birth-year) 1964 Oysterdate myself at one point (SN 1,143,XXX). I found the winding and date-setting stiff and cumbersome; that's why I sold it. It was near-mint:

Hi Adam
The lume doesn't glow anymore , about the date , after i bought it at auction a guy came up to me and told me that his dad bought it in 1964 and that he had it serviced about 2 years ago at a cost of around £400 . When i took the bracelet off to put it through the ultrasonic and check the numbers the serial number is 107**** which i believe dates it to 1955 , so either the guys dad bought it second hand in 1964 or he got his dates a bit wrong.
Thats about all i can tell you i'm afraid
cheers
Andy
