Daytona Dial

Well, you will have no trouble at all finding one, if you don't mind an aftermarket paint job. I spoke with Jerry O'Hanlon of Rolex Toronto, and he was remarking how amazing it is that there are all these beautiful Daytona dials floating around, most notably the Paul Newmans. Well, it turns out that Rolex itself in Toronto hasn't had any Paul Newman dials in stock for as long as he can remember, and in all likelihood they were gone decades ago. So here is the problem. If Rolex can't get them, then were are they coming from? Does Italy ring a bell? They have some really good artists out there who have no morals, and you can get a really really nice Paul Newman dial, eg., but it will be a fake. A real Rolex dial, but all the finish on the dial will be fake, of course, and the best part is that you won't even be able to tell if it is original or not. So there is the problem. You can get what you are looking for, but there is a 99% chance that what you will get is overpriced on account of the fact that it is only skeletally Rolex, but paint and printwise it is fake. There is the odd chance that you will run into a new old stock dial never taken out of its envelope, but again, you will never know for sure. So pay accordingly, and always have it in mind that your finished product will be worth $40,000.00 less than you think.
