A nice spring day gone wrong...or, how the hulk is messing with my mind! ;)
so, i woke up this morning to an absolutely gorgeous spring day here in paris.....some leaves are starting to come out, the flowers are sprouting, all is good.
little did i know how the hulk would darken my day........ for the first time since september, it's warm enough to wear a short sleeve shirt, so, on came a red polo. wasn't really thinking about it. and, when i saw the red, i thought of the 24-hour hand on my 16570.... as some may know, i've been obsessing about the hulk for some time.....and, with this red polo of mine, i thought to myself "you see? you'd really flip the explorer ii for the hulk? it's not christmas! red and green....no, no, no." and, so, i thought, i'm cured of the hulk! how could i trade my classic enigma? the clean, crisp lines....the stealth....the classic good looks. yeah, that lasted a couple of hours....i even took that picture above, thinking how everything seemed right in the world. but, then, the dial, the green, the hulk....i started daydreaming about it again and how it would look in the sun (yes, i had some time on my hands while at the park with the kids). when we got back, i just couldn't take it anymore....first, i changed shirts to something hulk-appropriate (basically, anything not red is appropriate). and then, looking at my wrist, something else had to change.... so, out came the tools and the rubber strap for this one: d*mn you hulk!!! how i hate you!!!! how i love you!!!!! |

Your explorer is much nicer and way more versatile than the hulk in my opinion it's so nice to have a white dial watch in your collection.

Great story Cru! I think you would LOVE the Hulk. I have found it to be so much more versatile than I ever expected it to be. It is pretty much my daily wearer and it would be the last watch in my collection I would ever trade.
Gotta get yourself one!

My "solution" to the white dial collection issue is to deal with that at my next milestone birthday....three years to forty. White dial Nautilus? Other ideas? Quote:
Gorgeous pic.....your non-stop positive attitude on the watch and pix hasn't been helping me! |

It is the one watch I have owned, that I like more and more every single time I wear it. It is a truly special piece that I am excited for you to add to the collection in the near future.

Get the Hulk--you won't regret it!! The green dial is so amazing in person--especially out in the sun!

Cru, your post just reminded me that I need to start wearing my 116610 a little bit more! Once the thought of a new timepiece is in your mind it's hard to overcome the thought until you acquire it. Good luck sir and oh yeah take another look at Charles pics above! BEAUTIFUL!

Flip it if you are into the green. You can always get another 16570 if you change you mind. Personally I find the Hulk too green for me, and I'm a big fan of the Polar. To each his own.

Nice, another Creed wearer here....
I had the Hulk itch, I scratched it and on Monday it is leaving the stable. It was a fun beautiful piece but I just am not a huge green guy and its run its course with me. The dial is stunning in the sun like others have mentioned. My wife loved it on me as she went to Michigan State but the time has come to find better things!!!

It'll be more appreciated if you add it to your other two rather than cannibalizing one....

Cru ...... spring in Paris ...... and love is in the air.
I guess the question is ...... do you love your Explorer II more than the Hulk?

Thanks all for the feedback, both pro and anti-hulk.
To me, it's a Submariner first and, as such, one of the ultimate divers. But, with the green, it has a twist that makes unique compared to the large numbers of black dial Submariners.....But! As some have said, will the green get old? How can I know I like green that much? Plus, unless I would wait a couple years, not only would I flip the Explorer II, but a TT DJ that never sees the light of day. So, yeah, it's tricky....but, fun, too. The chase is so much a part of this. |

I thought: Now you made a mistake, you will not wear it. In the meantime, after one year, the green gets more and more wrist time and I wear it on a regular basis. The dial is so beautiful and it is the perfect summer and sunshine watch! Good luck! Tom |
