How does AP age with scratches

i ve found that subs age rather nicely

but is it the case for RO as well? or is it more of a watch that should be pampered and worn only for certain occasions?

Also, do you guys think its a MUST to get 15300 now since it is soon going to be discontinued?

Well yes and no... The facets on the bezel scratch pretty easily and get's rounded after 2-3 times when polished.
Although i must say a patinated AP doesn't look that bad

I would definitive recommend you to get the classic sized 15300 a model i don't think was necessary for AP to upgrade.

I notice the scratches on my 15300 more than I do on my sub. So far it bothers me, but the 15300 is only 5 months old. And I highly recommend getting one, depending on your wrist size. It fits me perfectly and the new ones are like Goldilocks, too big or too small (or too expensive!). IMHO, the 15300 is a perfect watch, why mess with it?

15300 was great---the new 3120 RO's, not so much (to me anyway). Looks like AP is forcing its clientele to the classic Jumbo. Curses!

If you want a classic sized (39mm) RO with a seconds hand or with an in-house movement, then hurry up and pick up the 15300 until it's still available NOS at ADs.

According to my experiences, the RO is definitely a watch that you wear with a bit more care than a Rolex sports model. The intricate edges and beautiful finish of the RO looks stunning brand new, but after it collects scratches and dings it starts looking bad very quickly. Refinishing/polishing is an option that you shouldn't consider many times on the RO, because it will quickly ruin the edges as Thomas mentioned.

I personally wear the RO for such activities when damaging it is unlikely, while I wear the SS Sub-C for any activities. For me these watches complement each other nicely, although there's still room for a watch that is less sporty than the RO, one that I'd wear for those special occasions only. Maybe it will be a Patek, one day...

I feel the same way. Scratch magnet not meant for rough activities but the most beautiful watch on the world.
