iPad2 returned for Galaxy Tab 10.1

I purchased the iPad2 (latest model) a few weeks ago on the release date.

I was pretty happy to get one so easily, there was nothing like the line up for the first model iPad2.

Anyway, the latest model iPad2 was heavier than ever before and it wasn't playing flash videos, so I was thinking to myself for $780 I really wasn't happy.

I got an email from Apple last week that said I could return it for a full refund due to advertising that claimed it was 4G when in Australia it could only at best be 3G network connection.

So I returned it, got $780 refund and then bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab Android 10.1 inch Tablet for $450.

So I saved several hundred dollars, and this Samsung tablet is very impressive, plays all videos and has cool apps.

I will most likely buy a new Ipad at some point when they change the specifications and update the current latest model.

But now for the time being, the Samsung Tablet is #1

Everyone keeps saying Flash is dead but my wife complains everyday how she cannot see a website because her Ipad does not support Flash. That is by far her biggest complaint.

I have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well and I love the thing. So many ways to customize it, and if you know anything about the Android platform, after rooting it you can overclock the hell out of her and get it REALLY fast...and keep it stable!

ive heard the flash issue is one of apple concerns with security & corruptibility .... cant know for sure as they are currently being brought to court for price fixing of ebooks, they could be just trying to weaken adobe flash position in the market....

i suspect its probably a bit of both?

Would you consider the Galaxy to be an upgrade, downgrade or not really comparable with the iPad (newest)? When I say "not really comparable", I don`t mean that in a negative way, it`s more like.............they both do what they do really well.

I`m trying to figure out if it`s worth owing both?

Flash is very processor/power intensive, ever notice how on your laptop, often a flash video will cause your fans to kick on? It's a battery killer for mobile devices.

And I do believe it's being phased out, in favor of html5 I think it's called, not sure.

I have noticed I've been able to access more video on my iPhone lately. The new iPad has a screen quality that I think alone is worth owning it for. And it's super fast too, with an amazingly good battery. I still use my phone for most everything, but I'm tempted to get the new iPad. Just don't know if I'd use it enough. A 4" iPhone 5 would be a nice thing. :)

Android is getting better but imo it still lacks the smooth, fluid quality of ios 5.

Adobe announced five months ago that even on Android they're discontinuing flash, frankly when the developer of flash thinks its not worth having anymore, eventually the rest of the world needs to accept it and move on from the 1990s.

i have a galaxy 10.1 and it is amazing.
i am a bit surprised btw, that even after this rip off and apple being unable to play flash in 2012 you are still thinking about going back. why? if you like android, it is cheaper, it does everything an ipad is capable than why are you still wanting to go back?
i think that my current iphone is the last apple product i'll ever own after trying the galaxy.

I've had my Galaxy Tab 10.1 since last summer. My experience with it is pretty good. Form factor and battery life are excellent. Customization and speed are great. My biggest rant though is the stability of the browsers available, and I've tried many of them.

I got my wife a ipad2 as well and ended up returning it for a ASUS eepad Transformer.
Faster than the ipad and none of this hogwash about not being able to play content.

I'm glad it is working out for you. It all depends on how you use your tablet, personally I'd never pick up an Android device over an iPad, regardless of the price difference.

And Flash should just die a fast death, I get Adobe updates every week (feels like it at least) for both Flash and Acrobat because of the slew of security holes. Very few people develops new web content in Flash these days.

Im happy with my old ipad2... The new pad has many flaws such as over heating and its also bulky compared to previous model... The retina display is not really a major difference as the claim it to be...

Yes, so far I find Dolphin to be the least problematic of them all.

The Tab 10.1 does have a "flash on demand" facility so you dont load a flash video unless you want it.

The new Android OS (icecream sandwich) will be a free upgrade to this device in a month or two.

The bulk of the latest Ipad was a real turn off for me. The screen on the Ipad and the Galaxy Tab are both excellent. I can't differentiate on the basis of screen appearance quality. Both are razor sharp.

I knew that was going to happen because I used to be an apple fan from the original iphone days, however, due to lack of flash and the way I could customize my phone, apple lost me for ever.

Stevo, welcome to the dark side, Android had been waiting for you with open arms!

I am waiting to see how the Asus TF700T Transformer Pad infinity turns out. Its not out yet but the specs look quite attractive. Its a tablet running Android ICS with a keyboard dock that when attached becomes like a netbook.

I have long suspected that many claims made about Apple products sounded too good to be true and it would appear that I have finally found some evidence to that effect right here on TRF.

Its sad that some browsers still do not support html5. thus being "forced" to use flash.

i do tend to avoid flash for youtube, but sometimes the browser just kicks back to flash.
