Never flipped a Rolex in 12yrs, flipped 2 today!!!
Hello all,
had to tell somebody (since the wifes not interested lol) but went to my local official rolex agent today to put my name on the list for a sub none date (old model) and ended up part exchanging my gmt ss ceramic 11671Ln and ss sub date 16610 for a sub 168000. So now have two new watches in the collection, last of the classic sub non dates & a sub date 168000 Do you think I am as mad as the wife does or is it a great deal like I think? |

Never fell in love with the Gmt ceramic and always wanted a non date sub before they are no longer available, 168000 is complete, just been serviced from rolex and a little bit different form the 16610

I understand getting rid of the ceramic GMT and buying a classic Submariner, but the rest has me confused.

You did what makes you happy and that is all that matters! FYI - you missed a 0 in typing out the 116710 you traded and added an extra 0 in the 16800 you picked up in post #1

I'm assuming you're fully paid on the 114060? Otherwise, you got cash back?

I'm not sure that trading a couple of watches after 12 years constitutes flipping, but congrats nonetheless! As mentioned already, pics, please!

I'm so confused right now. I guess if your happy congrats. To answer your question I think its a horrible deal IMO. If you traded a GMTIIC and 16610 for a ND Sub and a 16800 why would you do that. I hope you got money back or something. Maybe I'm missing something here. What do you mean put your name on the list for the old ND sub? They are at every AD I've been in. They are still showing up in shipments and don't sell that fast. Not sure why there would be a list to get one. Did you mean you signed up to get the ceramic ND Sub too?

ok maybe I didn't make it to clear, traded a ss sub date from 2002 for a ss sub date 168000 (from my limited understanding it is less common and worth more?) then traded a 2007 ceramic gmt ss which I can replace in the future for a sub non date brand new which after October will be no longer avaliable (which the agent has not got but I will get the next one on his allocation) price wise there is a small amount in my favour.

You would not have done it if you were not happy with the trade.

Seems like you did fine dollar-wise. The dealer may make a few bucks off the trade, but that's how they stay in business. The important thing is you got 2 watches you really wanted, and they're both new. Sounds to me like a great deal!

My wife only asks, "how much?" Otherwise, she doesn't give two hoots about what watches I'm buying and selling. Claims she can't keep up with it.

Not sure why you have been given a hard time earlier..
I know the approx prices/values etc in the UK, and actually you have had a decent deal from what I can see... Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing the pics... |
