This Watch Is THE SAME As A Rolex
http://gooddeals18.com/product/G03?meta=FRG
And it only costs $65!!! Okay, so, there I was at work earlier this week. A POS co-worker noticed my watch and asked if it was a Rolex. "Yeah, it is." "You probably did like Billy did and ordered a fake one off the internet." My response was, "Uhh, yeah...doubt it." I wanted to let it all die, until he says, "This Gruen is the same thing as your Rolex -- they're made by the same people; mine even has 16 rubies." Well, I didn't want to get all high and mighty on his ass, so I basically pointed out a few key facts about Rolex and left it at that. After I schooled him and taught him that I was, indeed, smarter than a 5th grader in the subject of watches, he just went back to the piddly crap he was doing. Anyway, just wanted to share that fact that if you only wanna spend $65 on a watch, then get a Gruen -- they're made by the same company... Oh, and, BTW, it's been a while -- hope all has been well.

Here and there...
I go through phases where I don't want to play on the PC much... Got three laptops and a desktop, and I often think that I am "too connected". Sometimes I just have to shut down and reboot... Also, from May 10th to September 3rd, I was out of work due to my popped bicep tendon. Well, I've since returned and that cuts into my PC time. I was also outta the country for a little over a week just two weeks ago (Punta Cana, Dominican Republic -- good, good times). Anyway, hope to be back a little bit more. I've missed everyone here and just the friendly atmosphere in general.

I do have pics, but they're not online yet. Gotta do that sometime soon. They're on a laptop that's kinda new and doesn't have the FTP software installed. And, I can't wirelessly connect to my desktop like I can on my other laptops because this new thing's on Vista...ARGH!
Anyway, it was great! All-inclusive, lobster 5 out of the 7 nights, good booze, better boobies; a beautiful country with nice locals. Unfortunately, the GMT didn't get to enjoy any of it. Wore a Tag Professional and made my wife leave her expensive diamonds at home. We read some stories that made us somewhat concerned, so we didn't risk it. After the 1st day there, I told Ami, "I coulda worn my Rolex..."

HMPH, never thought of it that way. Guess I can say my wife's Hyundai is really made at Mercedes.

Absolutely bizarre. What's worse is that your co-worker probably really believed that they were largely the same and that his "rubies" were actually worth something! I am endlessly amazed by how ignorant people can be about things, and yet try to speak on them with authority and supposed knowledge. I tend to simply ignore such people, although it is at times very difficuly to do so! You showed remarkable restraint, Sterling! James

Welcome back Sterling. Just the other day I was wondering where you had gone. Glad to hear that you're well.
As for the Gruen, Lexus is made by the same company as Toyota! I'm seriously thinking of flipping my Green Arrow for 100 Gruens myself |

I have no issues with people commenting on something they do not know anything about, we all have areas in which we are ignorant, some more than others ok
Misconceptions are plentiful with everything, not everybody has time nor an interest for, for instance mechanical wonders. That he says his Gruen is made by the same company for only 65 dollar without realizing the differences ... that would mean he'd had to stand there and take a crap load of abuse from my side |

But it is seemingly a common and ever-increasing way of doing things in the world these days. Content gets subsumed to the medium (e.g. speak louder - it makes you look like you know what you're talking about!) ... it should be the other way around. Anyway, just my opinion. And luckily, we all have them and can express them ... James

Yep, as long as it is said jokingly, ok but when the co-worker was serious
If I do not know anything about it I would ask before stating something that could be completely wrong. |

I agree with those above -- if you're ignorant about something, then don't act as if you know what you're talking about. However, if one is open minded and doesn't mind getting a little education, then I'll give them info until I'm blue in the face. Anyway, I wore my Tag Indy 500 Chrono today and he said nothing. Honestly, I did it just as a "test"; he passed today.

I'm reminded of this every time I get together with one of my wife's relatives. In fact, my wife gets mad at me because sometimes I'll bring up just about anything to see how deep the bs will get. It's almost like a sport for me.

Actually, I have about two of his cars on my wrist, so I'd never say that. While I am more fortunate, I'm not one to stoop to such a level. IMHO, that's just plain wrong.

Now that is so true. I torment a couple of my buddies at the Mess, doing the same thing - they watch while I spool someone up. It's kind of fun at times to wind up a BSer and watch them spin themselves into the ground ... and then when they realize that you've yanked their chain, watch them try to get out of it. They are rarely successful. It's a real spectator sport. I know that makes me a wee bit of a nasty fellow at times, but I really dislike BSers. But I really like the "Peanuts" comic strip! James
