2007 Rolex Milgauss
Is it true that Rolex has brought this unusual watch back from the relic heap? I see an icon of one right on the Rolex Forums page at the top, and thought I remembered reading someone discussing that very issue recently. If so, how much money are they charging for one? Is it more money than a new Sub or GMT?

Rolex Australia did indicate that the price of the new Milgauss might possibly be higher than RRP too, and that this may be due to supply/demand I guess we'll have to wait and see to know for sure." I think that is very true!

Hey Bo! congrats on the new Daytona! and, if you know, what does the new Milgauss cost in the US? I have a friend who has an original one, which he never wears, keeps in his safe, and claims it's worth $65K.

I only know the MSRP in Denmark (although it is still not availible in Denmark, yet). My AD gave me the prices as we were discussing the Milgauss when I picked up my SS Daytona.
37.000 DKR for the "ordinary" Milgauss (US $ 7000) 42.000 DKR for the green-edged crystal Milgauss (US $ 7950) But please remember that Rolex watches are more expensive in Denmark! The MSRP of the SS Daytona is DKR 54,600 (equals US $ 10,300).

In the US, the 'regular' ones with either white or black face will be some where around $5950 and the anniversary model with green chrystal will be $6200. Those are US dollar prices.
For comparison, the GMT IIC lists for $5950 and the SS Daytona lists for $7950 US. |

What I can not understand on the design of the new Mil.
Why have good lum on the hour markers, yet hardly any lum on the hour and minute hand? If you can't see the hands, what does it matter if the hour markers are luminated? Love the Case and even the outer dial ring, but the orange hand and 3,6,9 hour markers are not for me. Would love to see an updated explorer 1, in all brushed SS, in the new 40mm Maxi Case!! |

And here's a pic of a vintage Milgauss, with black out markers and hands. I asked one of my ADs today if I could take a look at it <<again>> after shelling out for the 2nd Explorer II this month (now Mrs Jedi and I have matching white and black faced ExpII's!!!)
This vintage model, I'm not sure from when, as the watchmaker was busy on a watch, but it's a total beauty and in my opinion, a great example of restraint in design and function. No date, but that is not a shortcoming as the Explorer functions well without one. As a tool it would make sense to keep it as simple, therefore as robust as possible. I think I'd prefer the non-green Milgauss if I were to get one. |
