Thanks, Al. Same to you. We just finished our long drive and are firmly settled into the hotel for the weekend (going to the Sens game tomorrow).

I've had poutine before in BC and it never looked like that. Do you guys do it differently on the east coast?

Poutine is a cardiac arrest waiting to happen. But it sure is darn good stuff.

And I think that poutine is kind of regional, although the originator of the dish is firmly French-Canadian.

My MIL is French-Canadian, and one Christmas she made this huge mound of "stuff" that had gravy, and it was sort of mushy, and she had a French name for it. I politely ate a bit of it.

I wonder if it was poutine??

Yep, sounds about right. Not for the faint of heart (sorry, really bad pun). But darn yummy. I have a plate or two a year and then spend the remainder of the year trying to unclog my arteries in preparation for the next assault! And yet my wife can eat it like candy with no effect on her cholesterol!

Listen James, for all the stuff that I've eaten that people said would stop my heart or clog my arteries, I should have died 30 years ago. Yep, I hear you, Allan. I figure that if I spend my life worrying about all of the bad things that may / can happen to me and /or that are bad for me, I'd stay in my house, never leave and eat leaves.

Like you say - live life and enjoy the now, for tomorrow you may very well die. Not to say to act in an irresponsible manner. Just enjoy life and the now - tomorrow will come in either case and will take care of itself.
