AHHHHHHH, might be having second thoughts....

Hello all!

I am possibly, maybe, might be having second thoughts about buying the Black SubC 116610LN on May 3rd! I mean the desire is still as high as ever but then it's like "whoa, I'm about to spend $8,000!!"

Anyone been through this? Haha, this is DEFINITELY "first-world problems"

No unfortunately I have not been there. Please do not take this the wrong way whatsoever but if you need to give it a second thought then perhaps you do not have the $$$ to spend at this time on this item...

Watches are a luxury item and IMO you either like it and buy it or you dont.... $$$ isnt an issue as it is just additional disposable income.

Again, I dont mean to sound brash but just my thoughts

I also dont understand "first world problems"

Just buy it

Yep. Just went through it 3 weeks ago. Had the same thoughts you did. Then, the wife said "hey, you work hard and deserve something that will make you happy. You won't be on the street if you buy the watch, AND you go around once only." With that, I bought the TT DJ and am very happy with it. If you can afford it comfortably, then do it. You DO only go around once, you know. Enjoy it. Besides, you'll need an awesome watch to wear to the movie premiere.

Just do it. It's not like the bank is giving great interest rates out anyway.

Also, the watch on your wrist will give you confidence. It also will enhance your value and your brand to your perspective employers since its scientifically proven that your appearance if it's favorable tends to make you more successful and attractive to those around you.

And hey, you're about to be in a big movie. The money will come. Reward yourself for your achievements thus far. "a crown for every achievement". If you've been thinking about it for this long just pull the trigger.

No I don't take it wrong at all! I mean I have the money set aside JUST for that item, but when it finally comes time to pay and it's like "wow" oh well maybe just me, guess I'm young and this is a major purchase to me...

You really don't even know what I mean by "first world problems"? It's just a joke said when people have a problem that's not really a problem that most of the people on earth deal with!

"Hummm, should I buy this ROLEX or not...?" just a joke

Ha, my wife said the same thing! "you've saved for this for years, you've earned it...get it!"

And I feel like 'Drama' from Entourage, I was watching today and he wanted a cheap appt and then bought a condo for 1.4 Million and he said "Ah screw it, my show got 16 million viewers the first week, we're gonna be the next Seinfeld"

That's what I feel like "Ah screw it, I just landed my first lead..."

Yes it is a big chunk of money that could be used on a more financially efficient manner.

As long as you are not sacrificing your essential needs just for this watch, then go for it. You only live once.

And you can guarantee that Rolex will keep pushing up the prices on these watches. So if you like Rolex buy it when you can afford it.

No, honestly I haven't had those feelings no matter if I was buying a watch, car, boat, etc. I understand its a luxury but I save for those things and at 27 I have the rest of my life to work and make more money. Great thing about watches they are easily liquidated compared to a car or boat. I just see it as my money goes from some imaginary number on a computer screen to a peice of metal on my wrist.

If you are reading this its too late. You have been sucked in to the sick addiction of Rolex. You will next be asking yourself on May 4th why have I spent 8k on a Rolex and now need to buy a second one for 15k. It is only going to get worse. After a few years go buy then you will get into a new level of sickness. Its called Vintage. Make sure you post a pick of your new Sub on May 3 because we will all be waiting. Well maybee I wont but it sounds good any way.

You should feel that way, it's normal if you have a realistic value of money. Rest knowing that your purchase won't devaluate like a new car/couch/house/etc.

First world problem = SO TRUE.

I get those feelings still. It is a big purchase. I think some people may have a bit of guilt associated with the purchase. Then I remind myself that my wife has no problems with the Chanel or LV boutiques! You've worked hard and you deserve it. You can't take it with you. Enjoy! And get the watch.

Unfortunately, once you buy the first and you hang around TRF, you are going to buy another one...

Go for it, my friend. You won't regret it. Trust me on this one. When you're wildly successful and buying multi-million dollar homes, remember that your courage to do so started with this first Rolex.

It's not even funny how true this is. I've been on other watch forums and do like and appreciate them. This one has a special way of getting me to reach into my wallet! There are some awesome people here and this is a very cool group of people. I can't decide if my next will be a Tudor Black Bay versus a Red Sub versus a Zenith Daytona versus an Explorer II or a Datejust! Throw in the random PAM waiting lists that I'm on and this can add up quickly. Best of luck.

I can definitely understand why someone (anyone) would have some self-questioning about purchasing something for $8,000 that, functionally speaking, can be accomplished for thousands and thousands less. I can also see why some people (including myself) can justify spending that type of money on a timepiece that has incredible engineering, timeless style, and a great history. I have multiple times and will do so again in the near future. It isn't uncommon to get a little nervous before a large purchase. It just shows that you're a responsible guy for analyzing how you spend your hard earned money. Go for it and wear it in good health!

If it makes you feel any better, I get the same feeling buying an ice cream sandwich. A little anxiety is perfectly normal for luxury purchases. If you have the funds and want the watch, I say get it, Enjoy it and don't look back.

Wife and I have found it best that its best to make such decisions in a spur of the moment. That's how we bought her Rolex...8 grand later, you just do it. She planned on buying a Tag...then the LadyDJ sat next to it...no comparison.

All that to say when the watch is right and the moment is right, it all works and you just do it.

Have fun! Do it!!

Cold feet! Well even if you do waffle on this decision, it will still be around when you are ready (but just save yourself further delay and just buy it).
