Boy Scout time
I read somewhere that you can point your GMT towards the sun and the GMT hand will point towards north. Does anyone have the exact procedure? What does the GMT hand and bezel configuration have to be? And exactly how to you "aim your watch at the sun? " Someone knows.

Here is something about the "compass" function of the GMT II:
GMT compass. CLICK! I am sorry it is in German, but maybe your German skills are good.

Clock with compass function
Each clock l? use as compass, if the sun shines (and only then). With the GMT and Explorer II the 24-Stunden-Zeiger functions as compass needle, in addition, with every other clock funktionierts. Verbl?end. Here now a guidance, which thank-worth-proves George Burger by the clock collecting tank to the Verf?ung was placed. Completely simply gehts with that Compass function with GMT and Explorer II (source: George Burger) Rolex GMT master or Explorer II: The "normal" pointer of hour to the sun align. The 24-Stunden-Zeiger is then the compass needle and shows accurately to the north (if the location in the Northern Hemisphere is, otherwise the pointer points to S?n). Importantly: The pointer of hour and the 24-Stunden-Zeiger m?en this-same time indicate. Normal clock without second time belt: In addition, with a normal clock it functions, even if one ben?gt a little "thinking achievement", which decreases the GMT and/or Explorer II otherwise: Pointers of hour toward the sun align. Connect mental the center of the clock with the number 12 by a line. The half angle between the meant line and the pointer of hour points to S?n. Importantly: With summer time the meant line must run by the 1-Uhr-Position instead of by the 12-Uhr-Position. help from babel fish |
