Waterproofnes standards

Is it true that all 100M waterproof Oysters are tested at 10% more and all 300+m waterproof watches at 25% more?

And is the Crown on white rolesor models gold or steel?

Thanks for the help

The crown on TT models are gold.

I'm not sure anybody knows for certain how much tolrance they test them too.

An earlier thread had a good discussion on this point. One of the TRF experts put it at 25% over.

I spoke to a Rolex technician recently. It's true. In fact he said that the sub can go as deep as 400 m.

All Oysters are tested to warranted pressure + an additional 25%, as far as I know.

I'm pretty (almost positive) sure to keep with industry standards it has to be 125% of the advertised limit.

Gold crowns have stainless steel thread inserts so are really gold capped stainless steel.

Look its very doubtful if any member on this or any other watch forum will ever use these depth ratings on there watches even a 100m watch. So all Rolex oyster even 100m watches will fine for 99.99% of todays Rolex wearer, irrespective to what they may be or not be tested too its that simple.

The older ones were just gold capped but from around 2008/9 they started what they call monobloc crowns. Now these are made from solid gold but the centre is machined out, to accommodate a stainless steel sleeve, with s.steel threads, if it had just gold threads they would wear very quickly, but the amount of gold weight difference between the two types is a very very small amount.

My apologies Peter.

You are correct.

It is a solid gold 'crown' over a stainless steel threaded insert.

All 100M waterproof Rolex's are tested to 110% of their Specification,
And all 300 M and more are tested to 125% of their specification!!!!

There is no such thing as white Rolesor, the word Rolesor is just a made up word by Rolex for watches that are made of mixed metals any gold/SS.And it would make little or no difference if they were tested to plus 200% of there Specification. As today 99.99% of Rolex wearers would never use the depth on watches rated to 100m or even 50m.

Careful there...or you will NEVER get to Kossi6.

And you are also wrong on the testing percentages.

I know all dive watches are tested to ISO 6425 which requires them to be tested to 25% about their depth rating. That means the Submariner is tested to 375 m and the DSSD is tested to 4875 m.
