Rolex COSC, and... hands

Hello all,

Anybody know, how I can get again the Rolex COSC cert. with an old watch? They will re-make the papers, or they never do it? Do I need to pay?

By the way, the RSC replaced the tritium hands, at a cost of around $30 (idiot of me). Is there any way to get back the old hands, or they trash the old hands?

Thanks!

Antonio

My nice 'impossible to get back again' yellowed hands from 1981 have been destroyed in a Rolex Service Center!

Dunno about the loss of value but it will probably be more than the service!

Rolex will not issue or re issue the COSC Cert. (unlike Omega). I believe Rolex destroys old parts.

Does my new Luminova hands will go yelloed when the Luminova (ZnS I think) gets oxydized again in years?

They are not supposed to. One of the features of luminova is that it's said to maintain it's original color.

Is there any website to get a new old hands or NOS for the datejust, of around ~1980? By the way, anybody know the 'life' so it can have repairs and maintenace of the calibre 3035?

Thanks!

Might try posting a "Want to Buy" here,

http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/

Rolex is said to keep part available for 30 years after the end of the reference (It really depends) so you have time yet. The 3035 was replaced by the 3135 when the 16610 came out.

You cannot have a COSC certificate re-issued as a customer, but I know that AD's can request Rolex to make a new certificate, but unfortunately that would ONLY be for a watch that the AD wants to re-sell in his shop. As I swopped my one-month old SS Sub Date for the SD at my AD, I (of course) returned the COSC certificate as well, and my AD told me that he would send it to Rolex to have it re-issued since it was dated and had my name on it.

About the hands:

Try www.classicwatchparts.com (proprietor: Mr. Michael Young), they have vintage Rolex parts.

Good luck!

Sorry Antonio, you can't get another certificate. BTW the original COSC certificate issued by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres is destroyed by Rolex. The certificate you receive when you buy your Rolex is issued by Rolex. As you may know it states that your watch was tested for 15 days, in five different positions and at three different temperatures and successfully passed the COSC test. If anybody wants to read more about COSC follow this link...

Sorry about your watch hands, take a look at these on Ebay, I hope it helps.

What you ask for is impossible. Then only you can do is,
move along and look forward and try to forget it.
