Father & Son Rolex Fans

So my folks spend winters in Arizona and summers in NJ.

They just got back and we met up for dinner after their return flight. My old man is wearing his yacht master and I end up taking a pic of mine and his to post here.

After some more talk he tells me I can take one of his other ones if I want. I ask what he has and he starts telling me. I honestly did not realize he had more than a few. After a few more minutes he tells me I can take it right then and there and I ask how this is possible.

Long story short, he goes to Arizona with all of this watches and brings them back with him on his person as, of course, he will not check them.

Before long, he is laying them out on the table. I had a great time trying them on. Posting a few pics of this collection. It was a fun night, but I kept my GMT IIC on my wrist as we left. Right now, as much as I always think on and off, I really can't see myself wearing anything else.

I trade my GMT IIc to my dad sometimes for his Daytona (his GMT is an older Coke model) and I always love getting mine back. Granted the Daytona is a great watch, but the GMT IIc just does something for me.

Very nice of your dad to make the offer. I don't think I would be able to resist like you did.

years ago, without knowing how hard it was to get at the time, he traded in his daytona to help pay for his gold YM (like father, like son). He is the kind of person that needs a date. I wish he still had that one.

He won't let me take the gold YM, but it is mine when he is no longer. I am hoping not to have it for years and years to come. I love that my father and I both love watches.

He had pulled out a few more, but I did not take pics as they are not Rolex.

I really like the GMTII so it would be a difficult choice for me too.

I think my dad would agree that he definitely passed the WIS gene down to me. I have since shared that same gene with my wife...I thought shoes and handbags were bad, but watches for her is a whole new ballgame. I'm not complaining though!

Wish my old man was into watches!

If I have the means, I'd like to get him a DJ for one of his upcoming birthdays... maybe 60th or 65th.

I would have grabbed the SS YM and ran before he changed his mind.

That's nice. I hope someday I can share the same experience with my son. He is still young so I got lots of time to enjoy my watches. When the time comes he'll get everything that I have.

I don't think you can do a better thing with a watch than give it away.

I gave my oldest son my tt Tbird w/white roman and as soon as the younger son graduates from nursing school he will get a steel TOG with white dial. Younger son is into watches more than big brother, who is happy to have just one good, quality watch.

Nice offer.

Sounds like you're pretty content with your GMTC.

Great gesture, and it's always neat to share a common interest with one's father.
