GMT 16710 endlink question

I should know this, but just not quite sure.

Does a Y GMT with holes in case use the same endlink as say an F or newer serial with no holes case?

Just curious about the fitamanet of say a super jubilee or a 78200 from a GMTc to watches as mentioned above with solid end links... Can a super jubilee be put on both holes and non holes cases???

Thanks
N8

Doesn't completely answer your question (or mine as I'm curious about this as well).

Hi would you know? It's not like you ever come across any!!!

Just kidding! Thanks for the info! BTW- have you seen may folks adding an easy link (clasp or entire 78200 bracelet) to older 16710s? I think it would be a nice upgrade similar to a glidelock on a 16610. I grabbed another 78200, just need to find some deals on some 16710s!!! Lol!!!

A while ago I did a test on several watches to see if SELs would fit on older (lug hole) watches. This doesn't answer your exact question but the information may help.

Cheers.

X2. I decided on a used D 16710 and the new clasp was one of the things I had to sacrifice. I would be curious to know if anyone has upgraded just the clasp as I like the brushed center links.

These are 3 different questions...

1. No, a holes case does not use the same endlink as a non-holes case. The non-holes case needs an endlink with the slot in the back to be able to use a spring-bar tool to remove it. If you put a holes case endlink on a non-holes case, you will have to drill the back out to get it off..

2. Yes, a GMT IIc bracelet will fit an early 16710 if it is an SEL case but the backside does not sit flush, so this is a compromise.

3. The Super Jubilee can be installed on a 16710 SEL case, but there are compromises as the spring-bars for the Jubilee are only 1.8mm in diameter and the case contour is for a 36mm case, therefore there is a slight mismatch that you need to be willing to accept..

i've sourced a few GMT IIC bracelets for people...

and had a few wanting to put the 78200s on their 16710/16700 - never lasts long, the PCLs don't work with the brushed case..

just upgrade the clasp to Glidelock and you're all set..

As you and many others know, ive been collecting parts for a while. I have some extra glidelocks and ezlink bracelets, but keeping the new for later and using the used ones now. I just grabbed a used 78200 that I plan on using on a 16710, but still need the "right" watch. (the bracelet is the tough part!!!!) I like the glidelock mod, but the GMTc clasp is nice and small. I figure a nice older collection of watches with updated bracelets, some new pieces and tons of extra new sealed parts is the beginning of a good collection.

I know people like to just add the clasp, but I like solid links/ so I say go with the entire bracelet! If your gonna Frankenstein you watch- go all in!

Thanks to the good info in this thread, folks!!!
