Brand new to the site, i bought a 2005 stainless black sub the other day and am debating bringing it back for the newer ceramic modal. Comments are most welcomed as i am very torn. Thanks

A newer Sub 116610 has a slightly different case look.
I like newer things so...

Depends... what are your thoughts that led to considering the newer model? Is it just because "it's newer" ? Or, does it come down to the technical differences? (improved clasp, bigger hour markers on dial, blue lume, etc.)

I hesitate to respond because I don't like these "can't decide" posts.

However, I did this trade when the new sub came out. I have been very pleased. The bracelet alone is worth the trade.

if you want

fatter lugs, wears larger
maxi markers/hands
ceramic bezel
glidelock clasp

if u want to keep the classic

classic shaped case
metal bezel
lighter weight

Unless you got a great deal on this older sub i would upgrade to the new sub, the glidelock clasp is amazing and that alone is worth upgrading.

Isn't it the same 40mm size? I wish they would make the sub bigger. The bezel makes the dial look small.

have you tried the new sub on ? its a lot heavier than the 16610, I looked into changing/upgrading like you when they first came out but as I have a small wrist it didn't look and feel as good my 16610. But its a very handsome watch and the clasp is a big improvement on ours.

Great choice. I, for one, prefer the way the classic 16610 case and lugs flow/blent into the bracelet over the maxi case. But, I do like the new bracelet. Now if we could just ...

Geez man, give the 16610 a chance! If you're already considering selling it, why did you buy it in the place? Think it through carefully you may regret it. Good luck.

If your having doubts this early you bought the wrong watch. Sorry but other than the wider lugs there is nothing to complain about the new subc.

The question is, "Why?" Without know the source of your indecision, it's impossible to offer advice.

How about donating your 16610 to the Adam D Submariner Foundation, and then purchasing a 116610LN?

But in all seriousness, don't get rid of your 16610.

The deal breaker for me is the newer Glidelock clasp, it's brilliant, and brings up the quality up to the level of the rest of the watch. Myself personally, I couldn't ever go back to the older style pressed clasp bracelets .... that's just my opinion though, it will depend on the reasons why YOU want to change, and if the price differential is worth it to you ...

It just depends which one you like the most.

Either older version or newer version have their own strengths and weaknesses.

I went the other way. Much prefer the classic look. I prefer the tuna can clasp, aluminium insert, don't like the shine on the ceramic, looks terrible on a divers watch. Perfect sized lugs and lightweight. I managed to get a BNIB random serial 16610 LN and am more than happy now.

What do I miss? The maxi dial and blue loom.
