Very disturbing, no Speed Yellow paint option, what gives?

Not sure why it's not offered. I thought it was a staple for Porsche.
I saw the yellow just recently. Although it's probably too bright for me I absolutely love seeing it on the road. Very hot color.

Odd, the non-Turbo trim levels on the new 991 have speed yellow. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the turbo still the 997?

Surprising as it looks so sharp in speed yellow IMHO!

Craig, I note that the list price on this vehicle CONUS is in the vicinity of $137K USD. We here pay $600K Aus. Given we have close to parity with the USD we are having the pineapple well and truly shoved sideways up our a$$.

At that price Aus I'd want it in any damn colour.

That's the same price as 6 GTR's (using USA pricing) with 20K change!

I have noticed that Audi, Porsche etc seem to be able to build new showrooms yearly. Equally I watch the megafactory shows that show how quickly they build modern cars and how much they screw down the parts suppliers.

And finally, but perhaps more importantly, when I was working in the US you could buy an Aussie made Pontiac GTO for around $35K. Given our "luxury car tax" kicked in at 47K or thereabouts at the time, the fact we were paying about 65K for a slightly lower specced Monaro suggests we are certainly taking an unjustified chilli stick. No doubt the 100% tax on exotics kick the price up, but even then why are we 3-4 times the price on the exotics.

The only thing worse than living in Australia is living in PERTH Australia. I bought an S6 Audi in Perth that was $175K new in 2001. The guy I bought it off paid $115K, 3 years after that and when I bought in 2008 for 48K it was up for its third stamp duty (the guy had to pay out the lease at 80K LOL). I shipped it to Sydney, rego and stamp duty in NSW was $1800 and paid happily. I then got a bill from the WA transport rego equivalent for $4000+ for stamp duty.

I sent them a letter saying never drove the car in WA and had paid for stamp duty and re-registration in NSW, wished them well. Then over the next 9 months got a series of threat letters with suitable smart ass chain letter style responses from me to the dept of finance who took over the case. I encouraged them to ban me from the state! I did also mention with stamp duty charges 3 times that of any other state surely they had gorged enough on the original transaction, then the second. Having made probably 40K in stamp duties from ONE CAR they had made enough, take your suckling elsewhere PLEASE.

In the spirit of squeaky wheel wins out, I eventually got a letter from the treasury confirming I had no money owing. If you think I am kidding look at the same car say a 2007 911 in WA vs QLD/NSW/VIC and look at the top tab stamp duty and rego fees, WA pays more than double every other state.

ANd you though we just get ripped off when they are new!!!!!!!!! Nah in Perth the bleeding just keeps going. I am sure most countries don't have any stamp duty.

As a comparator I bought a BMW Z3M from QLD and my current Porsche 968CS in Tasmania, not only did those two states not try to screw me over they happily offered and obliged to pay me back the outstanding Rego when the plates were returned with proof of re registration in my home state.

I lie apparently you are only up for $450K for a turbo in OZ, of course with recent currency that is around $475K USA vs $137K in USA, now that is a bargain........

Porsche FLY yellow and International Colors

Hi all

relying on my ageing memory, but many many years ago Porsche offered FLY Yellow (Ferrari Light Yellow), and had no shame in even using "Ferrari Yellow" as their official paint code description! I will try and find the reference..

In the meantime, for those who are interested, below are the official International Racing Colors for each country. Since the advent of commercial sponsorship, this tradition has mostly been abandoned.

PS. Germany originally went with bare metal (ie. silver) to save weight! but this eventually became Silver paint

PPS. I just remembered, Speed Yellow cars only go up to 100mph, but FLY Yellow cars do 200mph+

In the options list, any of you guys notice the price Porsche charge to paint your key-fob to match the body? I realize its the dealer's job to gouge you with the options list, but really?!??!?!?!?!

I was just doing some daydreaming and noticed there wasn't a Speed Yellow Option. I did a internet search and did find
some Speed Yellow 2012 911 Turbos so I figured it must be a special order or something.

Just getting antsy, as for me the 911 Turbo HAS to be Speed Yellow.

Pay extra if you have to for the right color. I got a brand new 911 and almost took one off the lot, just to have it NOW. I waited for what seemed like forever to get a navy blue w/ tan interior. I realize now how bummed I would have been if I "settled". Attachment 280827

Called the dealer, seems yellow (Now called Racing Yellow) is available on the Carerra 911 on the website. (New 991 Body Style)

Yellow should show up again when the Turbo gets updated to the 991 body style.
