Have put up a couple of posts regarding my old Sub. A number of replies was from people wanting to see some photos of it .........well here goes. To catch up on the background of this watch look at the posts of 6/8/07 The Humour of owning an old Rolex. and 26/7/07 The maths of anold rolex. Also put a post up a couple of days ago re the value of this watch and what I have been offered. Not being a collector I am not really up to speed with the collection side. I have always viewed Rolex as no frills, bulletproof tool made to go the distance.

So here we go with the pics........Will be interested to hear the replies. The photo of the watch lugs - if you look closely you will see that the lugs have been re-bushed as over the years they had become elongated with wear

I wouldn't change a thing! Keep it in good repair and wear it! There are collectors that would love to have that insert alone!!

I think that endlink on the bracelet, looks a little different. It shouldn't be a solid end-link on a 5513. Did you replace the bracelet at some stage?

Yep, its the 3rd bracelet. When I was doing a lot of diving and the watch was immersed in sand and gunk a lot of the time the first one lasted only 7 years or so. The 2nd one got through about the next 26 years or so, and this last one was put on about 2 years ago

A pitty with that SEL, though.

I'd try to get an original bracelet for it, if I were you. Maybe www.classicwatchparts.com can get one for you.

Also, be SURE to keep original hands and dial if you get it serviced!

I love that watch. I expecially love the fact that the original lug holes have been bushed to make it usable for another few decades....

To many people would have tossed the watch, or re-cased....That would have been a shame..

Your approach has brought new life to it and I think have upped the desireability to a hard-core collector looking for a piece with it's story intact.

The story of this watch should be put down on paper and kept with a period box for it's future value..

Congrats Colin.

That's a great looking watch, and everything that's happened to it has only added character and a timeless appeal.

Makes me feel good about not treating my Sub like a baby!!
