Certainly was.
I had looked at a black sub date at my AD, fell in love with it, and knew it was what I wanted. When I went back a few weeks later, interested in making the purchase, it had been sold! I told my AD that if he could order it for me, I would buy it. A month or so later, Rolex had sent him a black sub date, straight from the factory, as he requested. He called me and I went to check it out. It was absolutely amazing, especially knowing that only a few people had ever had their dirty hands on it! I couldn't imagine buying it with some small scratches that have resulted with a watch being in the showcase! That was one of the selling points for me, other than the black sub date being, in my opinion, the perfect rolex for all occasions! I am incredibly happy with my purchase! |

I have been going to Porsche Affairs and Events for years.
I d drive up in $100K plus cars and would be wearing a G Shock which to me is practical, never needs a battery, get its time nightly automaticaly from FT Collins Colorado via satellite,,, who could want anything more,, and it was $88.00. The guys have harassed me for years about my watch and the fact it didnt go with my Black 911 Cabriolet. When I got the new 911/997 red twin turbo in June I knew I d have to get the best Rolex around and went for the Gold Presidential. Thats the price of success I guess... LOL I was there on delivery day to watch it come off the truck all wrapped up, A proud DAD, LOL |

I've wanted a Rolex for about ten years. My grandfather gave me his Glycine Altus (swiss I believe) and my father gave me his 1969 Omega Constellation a few years ago. I finally convinced my wife to let me get my Explorer 1 last week when I took my Omega to the repair shop for a cleaning, oiling and polishing. I told her it was a watch that I could hand down to my son, etc. Now the real question is, what excuse will I use to buy the Seadweller??

I have always loved these watches...growing up as a child my father had two oysterdates. I knew one day they would be mine and vowed to also get one or two of my own. For me watches have always been Rolex...its always just been a matter of time, no pun intended. Now I have the means to get a few of these wonderful pieces and must say I love it. What I really like though is having a piece of past (my old watch, from my father) and also having the success and security to be able to go out a get a couple of wonderful watches on my own!

Why , o why !
Not an exact reason. Many intrinsic and extrensic reasons, I suppose.
Curiosity.[/COLOR] (Yep, it kills the cat every time) Effective Marketing. (Yep, brainwashing is amazing). I have to come back to this point over and over; "It's a Rolex." What does that actually mean for a guy that does not deep sea dive and has not been to Iraq? Do you really need a watch that you probably will NEVER subject to the elements which it was built to withstand (how many posts: I baby my rolex, I hate to scratch it, oh no, I dropped it on the tile floor, I use a soft toothbrush or paint brush on it, warm water with soap, cotton only.......blah blah blah etc etc etc) I guess it's my justification for the investment, to say "It's a Rolex". Sure, all the "it's a part of history, it looks really nice, it uses such and such steel, the printing is just so nice", works well too. Yes, those F I V E letters (R-O-L-E-X) pushed me to the brink. To prize a mass produced object..........it's amazing. No,......... It's a Rolex. |

I have always wanted a Rolex since when i was 18 years old but racing commitments kept me away from many things not just watches. Guess at 33, not now then when? Got myself a ROlex and a Omega SMP Ti when a long term client of mine sign up for 100 Personal Training Sessions.
As for my potential TT Blue Sub or LV, it would have to be the people in this Forum! |
