Welcome to TRF! (if I haven't welcomed you yet)

The DD with "Bark Finish" (Ref. 18078) was a (single) quickset and as far as I know it was discontinued when the double quickset was introduced at the end of 1990.

I'm not certain when the Bark DD was discontinued (I think in the early '90s), but I believe that in its last few years, it was produced as a double quick-set model. These are harder to find, of course.

This watch is the only one on my "Grail" list. I want one, but will be patient until the right one comes along.

Seems that Allan and I agree about the DD Bark.

I can add that I saw a DD Bark in Berlin this summer, put for sale in a shop for vintage watches. The price was 8,900 Euros.

The highlighted text:

The seller tells you

The Bark is discontinued and has been so since 1990.

Agree with Bo - the Bark Day-Date is no longer in production. All are sought-after now by collectors and wise buyers, like yourself!

Sure, Rb... Referring to a Day-Date, there is a date wheel and a DAY wheel. A single quickset (like most other Rolex date watches) allows the user to set the date by pulling the crown out to the first position and turning until the correct date appears in the window, rather than turning the minute hand all the way around the dial and past midnight to set the date.

A double-quickset adds the ability to do this with the DAY wheel on a Day-Date Rolex as well. This is a much-desired feature.
