Just a word of advice...
When handing over a watch to someone, do not do it while standing on a hard surface (eg in the middle of the street, or a hard tiled floor). You could save a lot of grief. |

I usually just show my watch on my wrist.
Once a colleague at work asked me to take it off for him to have a closer look, so I took it off, and handed it to him with the clasp left open. The thing was, after having a close look, he wanted to close the clasp. But before that, whilst he was looking at it, somehow the fliplock got flipped back into the fully closed position while the rest of the clasp was wide open. The problem was, he hadn't really seen or used a Rolex before, and tried to close the clasp. Unknowingly, he went to close the buckle down OVER the top of the (closed position) fliplock. As he felt it wouldn't click into place, he thought something was jammed, and then went to push it down with greater force. And he was quite a big strong guy too. The damage? Scratched Coronet on the of the fliplock. This all happened so quickly, by the time I reacted and stepped in, it was too late; the damage had already been done. So, from then on, whenever I needed to take my Rollie off to show someone, ALWAYS I close the clasp. As they say, prevention is better than cure. |

I never take it off my wrist to show someone. I've heard stories where the watch was dropped. Why take any chances.
