California Burning!!

Fires rage through most of Malibu and California as multi-million dollar homes turn to ashes.

Ace director, James Cameron's home is on the "burn" list as at least a quarter of a million people are evacuated to safer grounds.

It must be hell for those people out there!! Just hope it all passes over quickly and the flames die down.

JJ

I live in San Diego... It's getting pretty bad out here... Suprised to see it is world wide coverage.. I am not threatened, yet.. We have good fires crews and the Navy is helping with water drops... I am glad to see that our officials here are handling this MUCH better than previous disasters in other parts of our country..

We're currently in San Dog visiting the grand daughter and her parents. We were headed to Ramona last Sunday to take her to a pumpkin patch and a lot of the roads were already backed up. It got worse on our way back, 78 was like a parking lot. We're far enough from the fires right now. Hydro, what part of San Dog are you from? We're in La Mesa.

My town of Angelus Oaks was evacuated. I evacuated twice when I lived there. Once in 203 and again in 2005. It's nuts.

I do not rule out terrorism.

Will I miss it if it goes up in flames? You betcha. But I have learned to own my stuff and not let my stuff own me.

My sister lives on a hilltop in Vista, in northern San Diego County. She was ordered to evacuate on Monday, so she went to Oceanside, which now has two fires.

FoxNews: Just reported police have a suspect in custody. Guess some or all of the fires were intentionally set.

The Department I work for, (Municipal not wildland), just sent 2 reserve engines and a brush truck over to help out, fully staffed with our guys. Meanwhile, I sit and reap the overtime here in Arizona, and people wonder how fireman live in 3000 sq. ft houses and drive new SUV's wearing Rolexes. I would have gone but I couldn't accept a 2 week commitment, my wife would kill me if I left here with 3 kids for 2 weeks. Good luck and god bless those in harms way and those trying to help.

My wife & I were out there [both San Diego and LA] a year ago and it was dry as hell back then. It's the largest migration of Americans since the Civil War.
Hope all of our west coast friends are OK.
