How Do You Get The Right Lighting For Picture Taking?

Please make it simple.

I take most of my pics outside. They always turn out better.

Here we go how I make a pic. I take a black watch with
plastic crystal and itīs a real pain.I just put the watch
in my 25 litres plastic can on a wallet. I have some
strong lights over and at the sides of the plastic can.

Just a shot at the front of the watch.

Not nice, my figers reflect at the hands and the can
over the half of the crystal.

If we change angle of the cam my fingers donīt shows
but still you can see the can at the crystal.

Ok we put a white printer paper at the hole in the can
and just cut it out for the lens.

Here is the result and you can see what the papers done.
You even see the hole at the paper at the dial so I have
to change angle again at the watch.

Now it start looks nice.

And the final results after some cleanupīs in PhotoShop.

I hope you enjoyed the tour and maybe you learn something
too.

I look forward to see what you come up with.

I use the same technique as Jocke with decidedly less quality in the results.

Jocke: That's amazing. I never would have thought of that. I am going to work on something for myself. Thank you!

And a simple one.

Here I show you how you can improve your watch
photographing. The most important with digital
shots is the lightning, you need very very strong
ligths. If you just put some strong lights over a
watch (in this case a black dialed with a doomed
plastic crystal) you will see the lights and get
some nasty reflections at the crystal like this.

Here was the watch just put below the lights and
it donīt come out well. So I have to grab a paper
from my printer and build a roof over the watch
with it, just like this.

Then it come out much better and nearly all the things
you donīt want is gone away. Here is how it looks.

Then you can edit the pic with some photo software to
get the final results. Here I have play a bit.

I hope maybe it was useful for someone and it will be
helpful with your next pic.

Jocke: Very helpful and clever as well.

Is that plastic container just a water bottle or something?

I am not sure what kind of light to use?
