Why would you think it may upset the veterans here?
Tell your 'friend' that the list of things wrong with this 'watch' is much longer than things right. I suppose they spelled 'Rolex' correctly but the rest is all wrong. |

Please tell your friend that the watch has numerous hallmarks of a fake and pretty much everything is wrong.

You've received feedback. I'm not trying to be rude but if myself or others do a complete diagnostics on this piece IMHO it would serve only to help unscrupulous people make better counterfeits. The information/tools you need for diagnosing fakes/counterfeit items are within this forum's archives . It is up to you to learn it. I can appreciate the fact that you may want information, so you may avoid future counterfeits and if this is the case:
There is a list of recommended dealers on this forum. (P.S I am speaking only for myself, others on this forum may feel differently.)

Ouch!!!! Look up some in the archive
numbers are in wrong place with incorrect fonts and probably done via laser engraving. Pointed crown guard replica case is poorly done. insert etc. So much wrong it would take a page to list. Follow the above advice and run away :-) M

I love it when these obvious counterfeiters post a "friend's" fake and try to get the knowledgable WIS types to give them a rundown on how to make a better fake. To the OP--please go away.

To be honest, actually he has bought the watch, and we are try to get refund, and paypal asking for explaination on the fake, please help. if you are doubt on my sincerity seeking help, please PM me so i can give you my number to call.
i m not sure why you think i m here to lie... Appreciate your help. I personally feel the reason why it is fake because: 1. The serial is too clear and sharp more like a machine engrave rather normal manual stamping. 2. The PCG only until 8xx,xxx but this one is 1,9xxx,xxx 3. The crown unabkemto fully screw in, maybe wrong tube or crown. So, i m really hoping to get more feedback from your expert to present the case to paypal, please help. Thanks. |

Horrendous. Why would you or your friend wait until after purchasing it. Makes no sense. I'm no expert, I do have a 1675 GMT and have had a vintage 5513 and a couple of 1680s, and have read a lot and looked at a lot of pictures, and think that anyone who has done bare minimum research can tell this is a horrible fake.
The bigger problem is that the thread starts out on July 2, 2012 at 8:42pm with "a friend of mine is interested on (sic)..." then we are told on July 2, 2012 at 2:00am "to be honest, actually he has bought the watch..." Further, why would a "friend" who either was interested "on" or "actually bought" this item not just join this forum and post the query himself or herself instead of relying on a friend? Certainly anyone in a position to buy a vintage "5512" and I do use that ID loosely has the ability to get on the computer, join the forum and post any inquiries themselves. Lastly, if indeed it were purchased, why in this world would said friend pay that kind of money without doing a scintilla of research, because if the alleged friend had done so, within about 36 seconds of internet research they would realize that it is clearly a fake. |
