Another Fake James Bond submariner

Another fake 6538 submariner.
Fake case, dial and crown!
Seller looks reliable and probably doesn't know his watch is wrong.

Can this person have really put this watch up for sale to the tune of $60,000 without knowing that the watch was fake?

Wouldn't it be more likely that he would have thought the watch was nearly worthless than to believe that he had an authentic "James Bond" on his hands?

It would seem to me that anyone who thought they'd found such a treasure would have gone to the trouble to have it authenticated and judging how many we've seen just on this website, there must be thousands or even hundreds of thousands of them out there.

Fully agree with that.
The number of these fakes is increasing and it is becoming harder and harder to spot them, especially when original parts are mixed with counterfeit parts.
Rolex AD are not always able to tell the difference when it comes to vintage models. I saw sellers with a huge experience being screwed up.

All this is becoming scary.
