Turn that Rolex back an Hour !!!!
Tonight's the time to turn those watches back an hour....
All that time you've spent regulating it, timing it, and adjusting for minute atmospheric conditions is just thrown out the window... Mike....You need to start now.. I've got a dozen old wall and mantle clocks, a bunch of watches, night stand clocks.....and those ovens and stoves....oh, the intercom clock... and the cars........................ WHY, WHY, WHY do they do this to us.... ????? |

We (USA) used to turn back earlier too. This is the first year for the "new" time change.. Perhaps it was decided that the little trick-or-treaters needed that little bit of extra darkness... |

I guess that was the reason you go for the white dial.

Yeah, even though I don't come anywhere near Mike's task, I do have my 5 (4 Rollies and a Black Monster) and my wife's DJ.

Don't forget, for those of you with dates on your watches, make your changes BEFORE 9 pm tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.
Save your movements a little wear & tear.

Its from Blackadder Goes Forth, the picture is Rowan Atkinson with his final attempt to be classified as insane and be sent home from the front line in WW1. In this case, he uses a trick he learnt put underwear on your head, stick two pencils up your nostrils and answer everything in Wibble. If any of you get a chance, watch Blackadder, fantastic program. |

Could you explain why there would be more wear and tear by changing the time between 9 PM and 2 AM?

I don't think it's a wear and tear issue as much as the fact that the date changing mechanism starts to engage a bit before and finishes a bit after midnite. Changing manually during that period might damage something. 9 and 2 gives you plenty of cushion. Don't know if Rolex recommends this.

I just spent 10 minutes this morning changing the time on my watches and clocks. Fortunately, the computer and cable boxes reset themselves automatically, as does my Casio radio controlled watch. Then I'm going to have to do the same thing in reverse in a few months.
