even if i were talkin to someone sporting a fake, i will just let it be. what do i want to achieve by sayin it is a fake??
likewise, i don't welcome such comments from pple too. it is just plain rude and no class. |

i have also met pple that i complimented their watches and they brushed me off sayin "nah, it's a fake."
obviously it is not a fake and i wonder why pple say that of their own watches. |

I posted earlier in this thread about how others will likely take your style of dress and overall mannerisms into account when judging you. We're all guilty of it, men just aren't as keen on judging women as we'd like to believe, especially when it comes to clothing and accessories.
Without turning this thread into a battle of the sexes, I think women (not worthwhile ones, of course) are more likely to fall for the boisterous chest beating behavior of the bully described in your story as worthwhile women will notice you more if you are quiet an confident. Lashing out at your passenger would have only brought you down to his (low) level. There's something to be said for a gentleman in this day and age. |

I could understand your frustration because there really isn't any great way to handle a situation like that. Sounds like a jealous guy trying to get a laugh out of the crew / ladies at your expense, in hopes that you lose your cool. Probably the best thing to do is smile and give him a sarcastic thumbs up "thanks buddy".
I do like the idea, of offering a wager. Imagine this scenario: Him: "that's a fake Rolex, they don't even make that model" You: "Darn is it really, I thought it was real? I'll tell you what, I'll make you a bet it's real and the loser pays for the entire groups bill tonight. *then you get the crowd/group involved* Wouldn't that be awesome everyone?" Everyone: "Yeah!" Then he is pressured into agreeing to the bet. Haha |

I used to get a lot of 'that's a fake Rolex' comments wearing my now gone Oysterquartz. Most of the time I would just giggle and say: "It's very clear you are a novice when it comes to Rolex watches and their history".

Cheers.

One of my coworker said that to me once (was wearing my now gone tt gmt2c), and I was like "whatever you say buddy", and he was like "prove it that it's real", and I was like "I don't have to prove you anything...if you like, you can google it." Then he just walked away.

The last time someonr asked me "Is that a real Rolex?" I answered "it looks real doesn't it?"
I think anyone who ask that kind of question or worse, tell someone their Rolex is fake is: 1) very shallow, they evaluate everything through outward appearance 2) Has no social grace or class whatsoever 3) No knowledge of what a real Rolex looks like Last edited by jctrolex; 21 August 2012 at 06:09 AM.. Find new "friends of friends".
Even if some was wearing a fake, I would never humiliate him/her in that way. That guy must be a duesch.

Wow. Could not care less if someone thinks my watch is a fake. I get much more offended when someone grabs my wrist.

C'Mon MAAAAN!!! You know that the watch is real...isn't that enough? A drunk sees your watch shows it to others declares it a fake and you take it seriously?
Just laugh it off, take a deep breath and don't worry about it. Get them safely to their homes and call it a day. Keep wearing your 'fake' Rolex whenever you're out with them - assuming you enjoyed their company enough to hang out with them (Rolex episode notwithstanding). Can you imagine how ridiculous it is for an adult man to quit hanging out with otherwise enjoyable company because someone in the group incorrectly labeled your watch a "Fake" Rolex? I can understand how such an episode can be seen as a personal attack and a directed insult, but considering the circumstance, location, company etc...is it really worth getting upset over? I know you are deriving more enjoyment from your DSSD than these people can rob from you with their inane comments, so just chill...enjoy the fruits of your labor...and move on... |

"Wow! I see you are a Certified Rolex Verification Technician. I guess you went to Switzerland and took the "Rolex Authenticity Validation Course" that teaches one how to verify watches across the entire line at a quick glance in the dark even while loaded. Your certification must have lapsed since you obviously don't recognize the DSSD, or did you take that as a high school night course?"
Yeah, still probably better to say nothing. |

I can't believe some people here are actually advocating an aggressive or provoking response to someone calling your watch a fake? By responding in like to an obnoxious drunk you're bringing yourself down to their level ... plus I have no desire to be 'proving' to everyone in the pub in earshot that I'm wearing a 10k watch ...
Surely people are joking? |

"What? Are you calling my wrist fake? Well, actually, "artificial" is a better word. My whole arm is actually bionic, forty times stronger than the real thing, but made of a cellular material with very similar properties of flesh and bone, so while technically not real, I can throw a baseball a mile and crush a skull with my bare hand... Oh, you were saying something about the watch? My bad. Could you repeat it, please? Talk to the fake and powerful wrist though. There's a microphone in there. Talk to the hand!" A few pages of these would be fun, at least for me. Don't mean to offend anyone. |

The bigger issue is that he assaulted you by putting his hands on you. While it's easy to look back and say what should have been done in that moment people can definitely react in many ways...especially when the liquid courage is flowing. The alcohol makes people do things they normally would do, but without the alcohol would not do because of inhibitions, etc. The guy is a moron plain and simple and adding the alcohol just cleared that up for everyone. Depending on my mood at that moment I could understand my blood getting in a boil over it, but am glad to hear the rest of the situation went without incident.

Calm down, remember that it's just a watch(although a really nice one) remember that nothing lasts forever and that we're all going to be in the ground or in an urn one day, think about what's important and what REALLY matters, and don't let someone else dictate your mood by his drunken actions.

Those that know me would never question my watches, those that dont and do question me i always say it fake. who cares what others think. just like there are many fakes of many brands, not just watches. the only person that truly knows if it is real or not is the owner. and if the owner is comfortable wearing a fake then good luck to them. |
