I wear contacts -3.75 in both eyes. Could not read the date without the cyclops. My other non-cyclops watches require I put on my reading glasses to read.

For 47 years, I wore bifocals and back in 2008 removed the "bubble" from my new EXPII resulting in a cleaner and more concentric dial:

A year ago, I acquired this DJ:

and found the Cyclops against a white dial to be less objectionable. I noticed the same thing with my new polar 42 EXPII when it arrived in November. The AR coating may factor into this as well. In any event, I was not tempted to perform "Cyclopsectomies" on the new ones.

Which was a good thing as I underwent double cataract surgery at the end of the year and my distant vision became 20/20. I exchanged my bifocals for close work lenses only and now find the Cyclops to be a useful feature.

Sorry - I can't answer definitively.

I'm still 20/20 for distance for anything more than about 15" from my face. I will need reading glasses soon and I have been hankering for a watch with a cyclops.

I'm not a real fan of the cyclops but I like the date on my watch so I am stuck with it. I'd like to be an option, like jubilee or oyster bracelet.

I have always wondered about the Rolex DayDate - if someone needs a cyclops to read the date, how are they supposed to read the unmagnified day?

I wear glasses/contacts; nearsightedness. So, I don't really need the cyclops to read the date. Hey, it's a Rolex.

At the age of 51 I joined the Rolex club- right about the time I started to wear reading glasses so I really appreciate the cyclops on my datejust! Plus it just looks cool.
