which one would you pick?
first off, dont tell the wife
non chrono: dj2 tudor advisor chrono: iwc pilot zenith ep speedmaster navitimer tudor heritage chrono daytona i even used management science to narrow these down. putting weights on the different decision factors such as cost, aesthetics, legibility, after sales cost, etc help me pick the next target! |

The women seem to favor the Daytona so the wife should scream a little less shrill.

Sounds like you put a lot of thought into this purchase which is what I always do before dropping serious coin as I WAS a notorious flipper prior to doing extensive homework. All of these watches are great pieces so you really cannot lose. It depends on what you REALLY want and if you plan on purchasing other watches or sticking with just one? That being said, if you can get the Daytona then get it and I'm not saying that because this is a Rolex Forum. Truth be told I don't even own a Daytona which should say something... From the looks of your list it seems like you're keen on a chronograph given the number vs. non chronograph models. BUT you don't get the date with the daytona which begs the question I originally ask. If you need a date you could manage an original Speedmaster 3570.50 (no date but highly respected) and a DJII (with date and versatile dress) at about the same price of a BNIB daytona. See what I mean? |

daytona ranked last aside from no date very hard to read in low light and small size, and most expensive. but the movement is what i hold on to there.
iwc pilot and Zenith Ep are the top contenders because of legibility, durability, value, WR chrono is the only complication i dont have yet but not that much a fan of chronos so i could still go to a classic one like the DJ i dont plan on buying another watch because i will have reached my max cap at 4 watches. |

Daytona, wish they were all this easy. IWC Pilot 3717 & Speedy (sapphire sandwich) tied for 2nd place.

I would get the DJ2, pairing it with the Speedmaster/Daytona.

How about the Tudor Grantour Chrono? it's a stylish little nugget, has a date and is 42mm, that would be my choice. I've owned a Daytona and I don't miss it now that it's been sold.

Oh, and BTW, my wife was standing beside me at the Panerai boutique when I took the plastic out and bought the 372 last week ;) |

The price span between the alternatives is pretty big...
I must say the Daytona. If the Daytona had not been on the list, then Speedmaster.

Daytona, Speedmaster, or DJII..
If it was me, I'd go with a non-chrono because 90% of chrono owners never actually use the function. |

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with my scores, but this is how I rate watches I'm interested in.
Prices in swedish kronor.

Only one thing missing. How the "feeling" of the watches are. No chart will ever tell that :)

But seriously, wouldn't you want to weight the categories differently? Also include a "wow factor" category for 50% of the total score. |

Yeah. Probably need some more categories and work some with the scores. Just made the excel sheet quickly in ten minutes trying to figure out some points. Made me realize I should get a Daytona next. Then change my reverso to 18k. Then there's an open spot for the third watch. Either JLC or Zenith 18k chrono. Perhaps a AP or PP. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Omg! I went to ad. Starting to fall in love with the moon watch. At first it was contender due to elimination. But now it seems to have a soul of its own. Its quite cheap too.
