Agreed, I want to have a cell phone that can fit into my pocket. If I want to spend time browsing or watching something I will do it on a tablet or my laptop. Some of the Samsung phones like the Note are just ridiculously big. I was laughing the other day when I saw this teenage girl talking on a Samsung Note and it was literally as big as her head!

Also I keep hearing that the new updated Iphone is nothing groundbreaking. Seems to me they had a lot of updates. What did people expect to see? This is a honest question because it seems most new cell phones do everything but feed you at this point. What monumental functionality were you expecting to see?

I may bite the bullet an grab the 5. Wile they will sell adapters, I'm not happy that they changed the dock with all the legacy stuff I have, docks, power cables and such...

This is the thing that pisses me off most. I have got accessories and adaptors that are either worthless or that I have to pay $30 or $40 bucks to use now.

Here's a link to the complete overview of new featurs with photos.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/

And, yes there will be an adapter available, but there will not be one included with the new phone, that will cost extra. I think a good mantra will be "that will cost extra". :-)

The iPhone 4 works on my Ford and my wife's Audi through Bluetooth, I'm sure it will work with your BMW.

Yes, you will see a huge difference from the 3. My wife is using the 3 and I am using the 4 (not 4S) so we will both upgrade. I really like the feel and screen of several competitors, but no one has matched the user interface that the iPhone has (IMHO) wo we are sticking with them.

Of course you are correct Dalip, and if all of the old stuff works with the adapters, then it is a minor annoyance that I will easily get over. However, it is not yet clear if that functionality will be maintained across the board. When they dropped FireWire (which makes sense in retrospect) suddenly devices would not charge on a variety of peripheries. I personally invested in a piece of audio gear that allows my iPod signal to bypass the tiny Internal DAC and be decoded by my higher quality stand alone. This wasn't cheap. Both cars are outfitted to allow full convenience control of our iPhones and iPod. We simply don't know if these things will continue to work with the new connector until enough are in consumer hands and tested. I'll be surprised if there aren't casualties (but would be happy to be wrong). While a few $30 adapters may not be the concern, the potential loss of functionality is.

I thought so, too, until I had a chance to pick one up and play with it.

The screen is a very good size and is good for e-reading, video, photo-viewing, and web-surfing.

The really excellent thing about the SIII is how thin it is, even with the Otter Box on it.

It fits in my pants pocket perfectly and is so unobtrusive that I forget it's with me sometimes and have to give my pocket a little thump.

Nonetheless, I'm sure that the iPhone 5 screen will be an excellent size also and probably will have better resolution than the SIII.

With the new connector just accounted on the iphone 5, how will those of us with the iPod hook up in cars like bmw's connect? Adapter, whole new cord? Thoughts?

I heard the adapter is 29.00 - Seems really high for the 15 30 pin cables that I have around and seem to need regularly.... I understand the change... Glad that it is reversible... Meaning does not matter how it plugs in - but, I get this feeling I will need to buy a few adapters and a bunch of new cables... Besides the IRS I think Apple gets the second most - Rolex and Panerai I think come in after those two at this point....
