Re-incoming! Back from warranty service.

Hey guys, I bought a GMTc about a month ago. I was getting ready to post a incoming thread until I look at my watch. I noticed it was running really fast, about 7 mins. I thought I set it wrong for some reason. So I set the right time and 2 hours later. The watch was almost 30 mins fast!! At this point, I figure the watch was magnetized. So I got my local watch guy to demagnetized it, and he told me the accuracy was still off. He recommend that I should send it to Rolex Dallas RSC. He couldn't touch it since the watch was barely 8 months old and under warranty.

After sending it back to Dallas. They told me they would need to service the movement. I didn't ask what was wrong exactly. To be honest, I didn't expect to get my watch back until of the end of the month. So I was really shocked when my girlfriend told me she signed for a registered package from Dallas.

So the entire process took about 3 weeks long.

I really like this watch so far. It is way more comfortable then my old Sub-C for some reason. I don't know why, maybe the back case is a little flatter and shorter clasp?

Well the main component in any watch to get magnetised and badly effect timing is the hairspring and seeing the GMTc has the parachrom its doubtful. If it was magnetised then don't think much of the Rolex parachrom bragg factor. It could have been something very simple like a bit of oil on the hairspring that will give very similar symptoms. But as we have no report from Dallas what they done cannot comment any further.

Duy, isn't that the most amazing feeling watch when you are wearing it ?
It's one of the most perfect wearing watches I have ever out on, you can hardly feel it when it's on.

It could be, who knows. I mean I'm not too anal on accuracy. But if the watch was running almost 10 min fast a hour. Then something is wrong with it.

Great stuff! Glad it all got sorted out in the end. I'm curious, I see a lot of GMT people go for a sub, but not as many going from Subc to GMTIIC. Can you share?

I do notice that, interesting.

Personally the GMT looks better to me. I really like the PCL, and the numbers on the bezel pops more. On the flip side, I can see how that can be a con to some people. The brushed bracelet, blue lume, and glide-lock are some of the main reasons why some people would go with the Sub > GMT.

I always been a fan of the GMT lineup/history. Before I really got into Rolex. I thought the GMT Pepsi was one of the coolest watch out there. I always smile when I see an older gentlemen wearing one. I've been collecting watches for a few years now. Rolex was always an afterthought brand for me. With all due respect, but the old bracelet was a huge turn off for me.

When the GMT II-c came out. My interest in Rolex was spark. IMHO I thought Rolex did a great job with it. Then I finally took the time to read more about the brand. Naturally, I was hooked on the Submariner history. At this point, I went from wanting a GMT II-c really badly to I must own a Submariner.

I end up getting a SD. While it was a great watch, and there is no denying about its history. It just didn't really sing to me. It was a bit uncomfortable, dial was a little too small for me, and the bracelet. I mean there are some obviously happy owners out there. But the watch was just simply not for me.

Then I flipped that for a Sub-C. I felt a lot better with this purchase compare to my DateJust and Sea-Dweller. The GMT, I was admiring from afar still. As the day past by, I kept asking myself "Why I didn't get the GMT?" I gave it 6 months before I decide to flipped it. I basically took a 3 month break and the GMT II-c kept haunting me. So about a month ago, I finally pulled the trigger on it. This was the closest thing to a new watch for me. The watch was about 7-8 months old, has all the paper work (double sale receipt, insurance appraisal, and it was practically in mint condition.)

I'll admit that I am a flipper. But I really hope I can fight the urge and keep this watch. Because I really like it so far
Now I really really want a Pepsi GMT......

Great watch, and great pics, Warren I gotta ask; what type of camera are you using?

Also, sometimes a mainspring problem can cause a movement to run fast. If the mainspring is slipping the gear train will move faster, and the movement will run too fast.

yeah that make sense. I figure that was probably it.

The first few pics I use my iPhone 4S camera. The two I just post was my Canon t3i.
