Noob looking for assistance w/ first Rolex purchase
My first post that looks to be a very knowledgeable forum.
I'm looking to purchase my first Rolex, a DateJust 16013 two tone or more recent years, and was hoping I could get some assistance from some senior members. I haven't read all the policies on the forum so hopefully this post is acceptable. I'm looking to purchase the watch on eBay which I know has it's own risks. There is a local seller of used Rolexs but the up charge is too much for my liking. I have been researching and watching items on eBay for about a month. However, I just recently realized that it is pretty hard to spot fakes without considerable knowledge. I was looking at another thread in this forum where a poster asked if a watch they posted was fake. Looked authentic to me but members quickly told the poster it was a fake. I have a couple of items I'm looking at on eBay and would like to private message a knowledge member to get their opinion. Any help would be much appreciated! Ryan |

Post links to the Ebay items you are perusing, and the collective of members should be able to steer you in the right direction.

I think I prefer the 16233. I like the two tone gold/silver jubilee bands but don't want a strong gold dial. The 16013 seems to have a lighter tone gold which doesn't bother me. A friend of mine has a very similar watch like this which took me down this path. So what do you guys think of these two watches? Anything I would be careful about? Is one significantly better than the other? http://www.ebay.com/itm/170893729835...ht_2767wt_1037 http://www.ebay.com/itm/330775086124...ht_5329wt_1271 Thanks again for any help or consideration! As for your strategy to look only to eBay, may I suggest a safer and prolly better price alternative? There are many trusted TRF sellers on this forum offering what you seek in the Classifieds here. And you can read their history in the Who's Who section. Since they don't have to pay eBay commission fees or PayPal fees, the prices are more reasonable IMHO.

Thanks knappo. I have been looking out on the sales forum for a DJ that I like but haven't seen one yet. I also have to wait another 15 days till I can post a WTB. Keeping my eyes open on all fronts. :-P

Both look authentic.. #1 has more pics with details, but no mention of boxes (probably no papers..)
The 2nd includes boxes..and no papers (which is not unusual).. . Keep searching in the For Sale..something will turn up..!!

Read Who's Who and PM one or two of the trusted sellers. The hunt is half the fun. Good luck!

both watches are good, ensure you read the add carefully, stay away from listing that say italian or custom band, do not go for diamonds on a watch they are usually aftermarket, and buy the seller (the seller must sell watches and in particular rolexes) regards
