Rolex buckle

Hey guys -

I'm looking for a Rolex buckle and came across a few on the 'bay. I'm wondering if there is anything to look for in particular. This one looks nice but I have no idea if it's legit.

Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't see the link.

I'm not a specialist on these specific Rolex buckles, Tudorman should be able to help.
Here are few tips.
First of all, Rolex only produced up to 16mm size buckles. Bigger sizes are all fakes.
One way to spot a fake is to look at the quality of the stamped characters. They should be clear and sharp.
Also, the price of the buckle should be a good indication. Original Gold plated models should turn around $100, while solid gold ones are around $300. Much cheaper buckles are very suspicious. Most of the buckles for sale are gold plated.

Lastly, as usual, it always pays to buy the seller.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. You mention god plated and solid gold, what about stainless? There are a bunch of 16mm stainless for sale with good lettering but I want to be sure this was an option as well.

Also, do you see any issues using a 16mm buckle on a 40mm sports model?

There are indeed a lot of 16mm SS buckles.
By the way, a lot of gold plated buckles are made out of SS models.
Coming back to your question, there are no issues wearing a 16mm buckle on a 40mm sport model

Other ideas, but without a 16mm buckle:
1) leather natos (there are nice ones for sale on TRF)
2) RubberB bands (http://rubberb.com/en/content/submariner)
3) very thick leather bands (also on TRF at reasonable price)

I personally use all of them

Thanks for the info. I'm working on sourcing a strap, buckle, and end links (I'll be in touch with that fellow on the forum that makes them) for my Milgauss. I really don't like the bracelet and personally like the look of a watch on a strap.
