The fact that you went to Tokyo to pick this LE up, made it more special. Congrats.

Congrats - おめでとう
How did you manage to get your hands on one? According to the magazine, they were all sold out. |

Great question. No idea. I had seen a white dial one in my hometown at Mitsukoshi Department store and another white dial at Tokyo Department store (both ADs) in Tokyo. I did not want the white dial. It was nice but the black looked great in pictures. When we called around one store in Tokyo said they thought they could get one. We waited. They did. Per the salesmen the last black dial that Rolex Japan had at their headquarters. Thanks for all the great comments! I am over the moon with excitement. |

Congratulations.
If I could have only one Rolex to meet all my needs (tool watch, dress watch, out&about watch) that would be it.

BRAVO!!!
Excellent, I love it. Beautiful watch. Having spent a couple years in Japan, I know how much the Japanese market loves limited edition goods, but I had no idea Rolex actually catered to it. Fantastic watch. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy the heck out of it. -GW |

Thanks all. I invited Otto to come join me for the purchase, but sadly he was not able to get to Tokyo.
I purchased this at an AD. No grey could get one, I asked. I went to one of the grey market dealers with it on shortly after I bought it and the staff all gathered around to look. The prices by the way for new and used Rolex at the grey dealers in Tokyo beat even the States, even with the awful exchange rate. New Datejust IIs (perhaps someday) with the smooth bezel for about $6,000. 3 year warranty. Cheap. |

very nice!
as to the purpose of the LE, maybe i'm confusing this LE with another LE from a different maker, but, i thought maybe it had something to do with support following the nuclear accident? and not to commemorate the last TOG? |

Love your watch, Love your collection( actually I am jealous) BUT I take issue with displaying it with a Heinee. The only PROPER display of a black dial is with Johnny Walker Black or at least a Guiness. LOL

Sorry. My bad Herb. I was trying to find a green beer in Tokyo to match the green TOG and it is all I could come up with at the hotel convenience store. |
