Rolex RSC Technicians

anyone here know if rolex tech's are trained on all models or just specialize in certain ones for repairs and overhauls?

ie: would a tech do a daytona, sub and a ladies oyster perp in the same day or would the rsc have specialized techs for certain calibres, sizes and restorations etc.. only?

thanks

I don't know about RSC but Rikki is only trained on Datejusts and that is why he has 32 technicians hired (one for each Rolex model).

Well apart from the chronographs and the ladies models all the Rolex movements are based basically on the cal 3135.Just take away the date its a cal 3130 add a day date its a cal 3155.Then add second time zone its becomes basically a 3185 slightly mod further its a cal 3186/7.And to any good watchmaker any Rolex movement is just a movement they all work basically the same.Plus the Rolex movement except the ladies is quite a large movement plus the way its built it is a lot easier to service than many other movements today. The main problem today is Rolex has quite a stranglehold on getting parts if necessary, but service wise any good watchmaker could do it to them its not rocket science.

Agree its a skill thats learned over many years and if you do find a good watchmaker treat him/her like your best friend, they are getting more difficult to find today.

I found one in Belgium at 30 min from home.

He has been working during the years with all the great brands in Swiss

I just gave him my Day Date because when we pressure tested it it . . . . we'll waterproof it certainly something else . . .

He is also doing maintenance on the DD movement.

He is really a great guy . . . we'll we have kind of a son/dad relation

Gave him also my Omega Ranchero because the glass was broken . . .

You'll see the pics when I get them back

HAGWe all !

I understand from good sources is that Rolex "techs" take care of all the tear down, cleaning, and re-assembly while the watchmakers do only the final assembly and adjustment. RSC Dallas anyway. I think partly because they have such a huge service load, and watchmakers are just not too plentiful like Peter says. I agree too, that if you find a good one, treat them right.

And now that you let his secret out, your watch will run backwards next time you send him one.

Rolex does build a battleship of a movement. I'd live to see how the RSC works behind the scenes.

...and I don't haggle with him...he has overhauled at least 6 pieces for me this year with great results...and 15 minutes away!

Recently, I had a sapphire crystal replaced in a YM and he did it for $190 USD, plus he carefully took every swirl and scuff off the bracelet and case!
