I thought this guy was going to say your watch was a fake as it had no "bubble" so this isnt really a big deal. He probably was either jealous or thought you were trying to be flash and wanted to bring you down a peg or too. Either way you win, I love it when people think Im flash or are jealous.

Wait a minute. You spent 7500 on a watch and it does not even tell what day it is. Man you got hosed!

There're always comments like "why not the diamond dial", "why did you not buy the white gold bezel version" or "you should've gotten the full gold bracelet" etc....

Who cares! Ya earned it, bought it with ya hard earned money, so enjoy ya watch! It's ya choice! ^_^

If this was a black tie affair your watch should have been covered by your shirt sleeve. How did he see your watch? You may have provoked this discussion by showing your watch.

He knows nothing about your watch, obviously. Don't let him get to you.

Watches DO peek out under shirt cuffs...

Jonathan, there is NOTHING at all wrong with your watch, and NOTHING "cheaper" about it. There are many expensive watches that have no date function on them.
Good for you for just walking away

you should have kneed him in the nads, then whacked him in the eye with the Sub while he was on the floor begging for mercy, shouting at him: "does this feel like a cheapo watch??"

Why, theres nothing wrong with a Timex. Some people cant afford a Rolex. You shouldnt stoop to his level and belittle him. Bring him up to YOUR level.....

Dont let squids like that get you down, who cares what other people think. Just flash him a little smirk and walk off laughing to yourself knowing how ignorant he is.

Well he has a point....
if paid that much of money on a watch you should get a date
and day
and month
and chronograph
and a mobile phone with GPS
and a coffee maker

IMHO you have the most original balanced clean and beautiful watch

When I see guys sporting a "Submariner Date" ....I always ask them.....Why do you need a date function on a dive watch?

Enjoy your new acquisition...Brilliant watch. A true "SUBMARINER".

A guy I work with tried to be a funny guy once and ragged me pretty hard about my watch in front of other colleagues. He's an Omega fan. I told him politely but firmly I thought he was acting rude.

Moral is, be firm and polite and you can derail any chucklehead.

That guy will flip out if he knows about Panerai ...

"WHA?! You are paying that much for a watch and you have to wind it yourself? And it doesn't even have a second hand? And my timex keeps better time to your watch!"

haha

Poor pathetic sad sack loser of guy - it's like he actually still is IN high school.

Who cares, he made himself look like a little person among men who matured.

Give it up, don't think about it ever again.
