36 - 38 is the right size for me, but submariners only come in the 39-40mm range, so that is what I wear today.

Perhaps when I turn 50 I will pickup a newer tuxedo dial stainless steel Datejust and be done with submariners for a while...

34 Air King is my ideal size. I'm not particularly interested in anyone's trendy watch flavor of the month. Bigger ain't better for me.

I think the 'rule book' has long since been discarded...

I know ladies who wear 42 mm watches and gents who wear 34 mm

It's simply personal preference, based on a number/combination of factors

For me 36mm to 42mm is my limit. These humongous size watches are a fad. Eventually they will fade away.

That's funny, 38mm is actually the size of my biggest watch!

I have absolutely nothing to worry about and am not complexed by the size of my watches. In fact, below is my smallest timepiece: 28,5mm and I love to wear it!

EDIT: I've also just bought a 31,8mm watch but, alas, can't post pictures of it due to an internet problem...

You do get my point though!

I would personally look at40-43mm anything bigger is too big and I sold all my less than 40mm watches. It also depends on the bezel... something with a large bezel and small dial can look too tiny. As opposed to a small bezel and large face looking just fine. I agree it's all about personal Prof. And buy what you like.

For me 39-42 is perfect.

That said, I still wear my Exp1 at 36 and love it... most comfortable watch of all.

I love smaller watches. All of my watches( exept my beater armitron and g shock) are under 36mm. To me Invicta is ridiculous with their huge watches. I would eat my own shoe before I'd ever buy an Invicta.

A 36mm doesn't seem small at all to me, unless I put it on right after a 40+.

</=38mm a Women's watch? No.

Have manufacturers been marketing them as such? Some have

Should that stop you from buy them? No.

I say wear what you like. I just happen to prefer 40 - 44mm watches but would wear larger or smaller watches if I like them. I could care less about the rules or opinions set by the conservative or extravagant folks.

36mm-40mm most of the time with a few larger ones with certain brands. My most comfortable watches are my 36-37mm though. As for watches below 38mm being for women -- then I guess I am in touch with my feminine side as Patek 3970P is 37mm, Rolex vintage Daytona PN is 37mm, and DDI is 36m.

The dial size wears large (groan) on how big the watch wears. If you have a dive bezel resulting in a small dial size then 36mm does look small. But if it is all dial like a DJ it wears large.

It's true. My 40MM Rolex GMT2 looks very small compared to my 38MM IWC Mark XV. It's all due to the dial size.
