A couple subC questions, TRF weigh in!!
Hey TRF,
Just got my Hulk from DavidSW after trading in my 116523 and I'll do my obligatory incoming post soon. I just had some questions about my hulk I was hoping you could answer. 1. The watch I got was brand new with all stickers on it, and the bracelet squeaks whenever I move my wrist, I can't seem to locate exactly where the squeak on the bracelet is coming from but it sounds like I need to lube an area of the bracelet or maybe just run it under some warm water and soap. I have a 16710 and no squeaks like with the hulk on that oyster bracelet. Any experience with a squeak on your bracelets? 2. Initially when I first got the watch I pulled the crown out to the second position to adjust the date, and after moving one date forward I would keep winding and I would feel a grinding sensation with the date kind of getting "stuck," it wasn't like the normal feeling when you are changing the date. It scared me because of the grinding feeling and I left it alone, then tried again today and the date was changing just fine with no problems. What do you guys think? Thanks TRF!! P.S. just got the tapatalk app so trying this out from my iPhone for the first time while watching my Seahawks lose to the dolphins. Here's a wrist shot for you guys. |

mine felt that way too. It also was a little finicky when in the time setting position with not always hacking the seconds hand. Sent it to Rolex and they replaced something that was broken and on the slip I got back when they sent it back says nothing about which part just that it was repaired. I called in before it was sent back and the rep told me they disassembled the movement and replaced a broken part. I didn't have the presence of mind to ask. Obviously it was warranty work and it came back regulated and in the same condition I sent it out visually so I am very happy.
Congrats on your new watch, hope it's not the same problem but if it concerns you send it in.

So the squeaking is OK or will go away over time? I have to admit it is kind of annoying.. Any other thoughts on the date issue with the grinding? The watch works perfectly now but I have to admit that it scared the crap out of me when that initially happened.
Eddie: Haha I'm working on it!! Very jealous of your pictures, even sitting here in Hawaii!! |

Congrats on a great watch..
You just weren't exactly in the detent.. When it isn't fully engaged it just skims over the gears.. Push the stem back in and pull it out again so it engages...

Tools: that makes sense, never thought of that. Thanks for your input, appreciate it. Do you have any thoughts on the squeak I am hearing on the bracelet?
Eddie: Fair enough! I'll see what I can do and get some pictures up with my Hulk in the water soon :) |

Sqeaks are normal for the new solid link bracelets... they fit tight.. Wash it in warm water and mild liquid hand soap and it will be gone..

Love the Hulk. Sam, I miss Kahala. I would drive by on my weekly Koko Head climb. My father asked me if I would wear my Rolex on that ascent, and my reply was NOPE!

My SubC also had a squeak. Do what everyone else is suggesting. Wash it with hand soap.

Haha thanks for all the replys and advice!! Loving my new baby!!!
Armyguy: Funny, my family here in Kahala wants to go to NY for the Holidays to experience a "white christmas." Cool to see you know where I live! I love the views at the top of Koko Head but its brutal on my knees, prefer some of the other hikes like Mariners Ridge, Diamond Head, and Hawaii Loa Ridge. Don't wear my Rolexes on any of those hikes either, just my Nike running watch. I was thinking of taking my Hulk up on a hike soon though to post some pics for TRF, I think that they would like seeing the Hulk + some spectacular views. |

HaHaHAHAHA!!! Forty-one years ago when I took delivery of my 5513, IT SQUEAKED!!
This post brought back memories! I have a book that talks about a lot of that stuff but I had even forgotten this! These are machines and tools! The book is entitled "My Rolex; My Passion". If you like light reading of this sort, it is available by special order at [email protected] by writing Rolex Book in the subject line. If you wear your watch a while the squeak will leave and so will that special new feeling. You will then need another Rolex. It is an illness. |

My 116610LN squeeked for a few weeks too I recall, oddly after a few long swims in Maui waters it stopped, I believe b/c it got a good cleaning after each time not b/c Maui waters are magic, wonderful, life giving, soul healing, waters... Hmmm... Actually they are!
