What do you think?

I would doubt very much about the possible platinum version. As for rose gold, I'd say it is unlikely but who knows? Perhaps a TT/RG version could come up someday!

i suspect they would have already done it if they were gonna do it
would have released when they released the WG and gold Sub.

Good point, I did not consider a TT option...
Why do you think a platinum version is unlikely? After all, there is a white gold one. |

I'd trade my WG for a platinum Sub.

Provided that they decide to keep the same colors for the bezel and the dial, the watch would either look a lot like a white gold or a stainless steel model. Of course, one can see a difference in the color of those metals and, obviously, in the weight but would this difference be enough to justify making such a watch? Would there be enough potential customers for this model? I don't have the exact answers but I would doubt it. Of course, one could come to me with the white gold and platinum Day-Dates but in my opinion that's pretty much like the stainless steel and white gold Submariner, relatively, they have a "cheaper" (price wise, that is) model and the expensive/luxurious one. I for one would think that would be enough for the Submariner and I personally don't feel the need to see a platinum model in the line. Disclaimer: I write this with all the respect I have for the members who would like to see one and have white gold or platinum timepieces, I think those metals look great (although I am a colored gold fan) and I do not bash anybody or any Rolex model, I just don't think they will ever come with it.

Anyway, no need for a disclaimer (at least not with me). I really threw in this question without any preconception and I like to hear what others have to say. |

Well, have we considered that there is a TT SS/Pt Sport model that does what a Sub does for 90% of the sport divers in the world who never go below 30m?
Yes, the YM my friends!

Another good point here. This actually was another of my concerns. Platinum seems to be "relegated" to YM for now. A Platinum sub may overshadow the YM. However, the YM (at least the 40mm one) does not come in full platinum if I am not mistaken.

I think a Daytona in PT would be nice ...
... but I doubt you will see a Sub. But I don't see why they can't do a RG Sub. Cheers -Ron

I would love to have a rose gold option. I think it would be a very cool watch to have. Personally, I dont think they would do a PT sub though. As others have said it would look very similar to the stainless and the white gold models. I dont know if people would spend the additional money just to have a differant color dail. (I say that and one of my grail watches is a white gold sub with blue dial and it is $20,000 more than the very similar stainless model. LOL. I guess i just contradicted myself.)
Who knows, I am sure if rolex makes it, there will be people who will buy it regardless of the price point.

I think a rose gold with the ceramic bezel would look pretty sweet. Any Photoshop folks want to make this happen?

Rolex can/will do anything they want.
I do not see a true tool watch being made in a precious metal.

Well, the poll said "ever." 72 years from now Rolex may be looking for subtle new ways to update the Sub after the molybdenum bezel inserts grow stale. I don't think RG or Platinum would be out of the question in the long run.

Actually a very similar question was posed not long ago on another well known watch forum and one of the senior members with extensive brand knowledge said that in fact he had seen a platinum Sub, but it was a special order item. According to what he said, the owner of the watch was the head of a personal security detail for a head of state for a particular middle eastern country and that his employer had over the years given him a few yellow gold high end watches in appreciation of his service, but he never wore them, feeling yellow gold was too flashy, so the head of state in question apparently commissioned a platinum sub for him instead. Not sure of how long ago this was....

True, the world "ever" was a bit strong. Let's frame the poll in the context of: "according to what we feel/think today, is it foreseeable for Rolex to release a RG or Plat sub in the near future?". See, that does not sound as appealing as I put it in the first place!
