Leather Strap - Gunny vs. Hirsch
Looking for a black leather strap with contrasting stitching for my sub, found two:
(1) Black Padded Series at Gunny Straps (http://gunnystraps.blogspot.com/) (2) Hirsch Straps (http://www.hirschstraps.com/HIRSCH-W...ch-Strap-BLACK) They look almost identical from the pics. I was wondering if someone who has dealt with either Gunny and/or Hirsch can provide commentary regarding the quality of the straps. Much appreciated. |

I have purchased several Hirsh straps and they are all excellent. I've been eyeing the Gunny straps for a couple weeks now for a Victorinox Airboss. The thing I have noticed is how thick the Gunny straps are the entire length of the strap. Think about when you are wearing it you be doubling up the thickness at the buckle. Not sure how that will feel by the end of the day. I have no doubt the Gunny straps are of high quality. I love the vintage look they offer. Others on the forum have these, so they can weigh in with their impressions. Either way, you will end up with a great strap.
My two cents. Tony |

I've purchases multiple Gunny straps...all are excellent and the transactions were easy.
I've not dealt with Hirsch...so I can't compare.

Thanks for the input - sounds like I can't go wrong either way.
Great call 77T - will likely end up with straps from both, but didn't want to get the exact same. Leaning towards Hirsch for this strap as Gunny looks to have some interesting looking distressed leather ones - will have to snag one of those. |

Apples vs. Oranges. I like them both. Hirsch is a standard brand of pretty good quality, relatively lightweight, usually dressy, but nothing too unique. Gunnies are unique, custom, handmade, heavyweights - you choose the specific leather, color, stitching, etc. to match your taste/watch- and they are priced accordingly. You might buy 4-5 Hirsches for the price of a custom Gunny. Nothing wrong with having several options on hand for your watch.
