rolex is not like Apple in they “eat their young” by changing it so quickly after the release of something new like the 216570.
dont think there will be any changes to the Exp 2 for a long time. maybe just the usual font changes.....thats about it.

Now if you include the curvature of the case and are not just measuring the edges of the bezel, you get 40mm. But IMHO, even this curvature shouldn't be included. Otherwise a Sub would have 42mm, not 40mm instead. Personally I'm not so sure that Rolex will come up with Daytona 42mm this year. They usually are very conservative regarding case size. Maybe because of Asian market. But I believe we'll see cerachrom on SS. explorer
I know it's a long way off, but I'd like to see a 39mm rose gold explorer (I) with a mini-glide lock adjustment bracelet and a fixed ceramic bezel. This way explorer would officially enter the precious metals realm, long overdue.

They did patent recently a design for a rubber strap, that looks pretty similar to ours (we beat them to market or they they took our idea when we were developing it.) The clasp they show is for what looks like a sub c - the glidelock. Sheldon did a piece on our strap and the Rolex patent on his blog a few weeks ago.

I'm gonna come up with something from left field. Since Rolex has been introducing previous models over the years (Milguass, Prince, etc). Now that they've introduced an annual calendar, I'm going to suggest a watch with a moonphase complication. Mere speculation of course.

I personally hope they keep the Daytona to 40mm, not a big fan of the current trend for oversized watches. But that's just my opinion. I also agree Rolex isn't likely to put a ceramic bezel on the exp 2, very curious regarding the Daytona and potential expansion of the ceramic bezel on non-RG models. As for the GMT, that would be interesting for a Pepsi or Coke... Maybe even root beer TT???? :)

I really hope they do more sports watches in Rose gold. I mean am I the only one that would love a Rose gold Sub/GMT ?
I want them to release a new Daytona that's a 6265 homage but that won't happen. Honestly I'd be very surprised if there wasn't an entirely new watch added to the mix in the next few years a la sky dweller. For me the Skydweller was a declaration of intent and I'd be surprised if they stopped at that. More complications will come. I just hope they don't forget their roots. If Rolex don't come out with anything to my taste then I'm not bothered. I'll be saving up for a RO and a Nautilus for the next 5 years anyway. Would take something special to knock me off that path and onto a new Rolex. The ExpII will not be changed. A scratch proof ceramic bezel is not what you want for climbing a mountain anyway. It's more important it can handle tough impact. They just released a new Sub with the 114060 so I don't see that changing. DJII smooth bezel just came out so I'm guessing they leave that line alone. Deepsea came out in 2008 and was a completely new design so that product cycle is nowhere near over. The Daytona change has to come. Do I expect it to be revolutionary and inspiring ? No. The 216570 was inspiring compared to the 16570. The new Daytona on the other hand will more likely be similar to the difference between the 14060 and the 114060. The sponsorship of F1 and the anniversary year mean something is coming. The only thing that would interest me would be a size increase and design change. Given the direction of the Rose gold ceramic Daytona, this will not happen. A new model is coming. Will it be this year ? Maybe not. If they release one every year people will become expectant. |

There may be rubber straps subs, perhaps an updated sea dweller.
That coke GMT2C is a killer.

imo, there'll be a diver model slotted between the sub and dssd. i doubt we'll see ceramic on an exp2 ever... if we do, rolex would officially lose their tool watch credentials to many diehard owners.

COKE GMT, if any company can pull it off Rolex could! Milgaus Green Glass? Impossible - Rolex did it.

I'm sure there will be a TOG on the DJII at some point as well. Would make sense since the DJII was introduced with the fluted bezel and followed up with the smooth bezel. TOG can't be far off.

No size changes to recently released models like the Sub.
Ceramic bezels are the direction Rolex has telegraphed. They may skip two tone as black ceramic would look silly. You WILL see SS with black ceramic. This year most likely as it is the 50th anniversary of that model. Bi-colored watches are out for mass produced Rolex. There are a few high end bejeweled pieces I. Precious metal - but that's it. |

I'm with Bill on this. Cerachrom on SS will be a hit I think - and a nod to the black-bezelled Daytonas of yore... On the precious metal models; Cerachrom looks good, but I can't help but think it's poor value compared to a solid gold bezel...

I'd be thrilled with a ceramic bezel stainless Daytona! Even better if they make a new dial option (panda?) Would be an absolute winner.
