Request feedback on ebay purchase

Hi there. I want to buy a vintage rolex for husband for xmas from ebay. This is the item I am looking at - 220184099230 . I am new to Rolex and would really love anyone's feedback on the condition/price of this (aussie dollars). Thanks so much in advance.

Others more familiar with that model will comment on authenticity, but the seller has very little feedback and only one is a Rolex. I'd stear clear and look for a more reputible seller.

Thanks Roger. But if it is authentic, would you still steer clear?

Without a long track record, it's always risky. It's rare, but possible that someone has purchased a non-working Rolex and repaired it with non-Rolex parts. Without disassembling the whole watch and doing a thorough inspection, you might not find out until it goes back to RSC for a service several years from now and then they may refuse to work on it.

Hi Renmore, if you can arrange with the seller to meet at a Rolex AD to authenticate the watch prior to paying, it'd be a pretty good deal if the bracelet isn't stretched significantly. Also keep in mind that it's an older watch so you'd have to factor in $500 - $600 for an overhaul in the total cost of ownership.

I don't want to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol IS a solution!

Thanks Alcan. When you say "overhaul", is that a service, or something more?
