is this real?

a local guy wants to sell this for $3000....is it real or is it fake...is an A serial number....it only says "swiss" at 6 ..did Rolex do that in 99?....thanks

It looks weird to me. The date looks thin. The marking on the dial is not thin and precise. Plus, the bottom of the dial should say "Swiss Made", not "Swiss"? Make sure you verify the movement is Rolex ~Hien

Mello,

Tell me if I'm wrong. I've read all your posts and my instincts tell me that this is your Sub.

The one which is running 20 seconds a day fast and the one that you purchased on Ebay to save you money against purchasing from an AD.

I'm right aren't I?

The dial is fine. The A-series Subs were the first to get "Luminova" dials from the old trituim dial being phased out. Luminova dials are marked Swiss. Later on "Super Luminova" came on the scene and those are marked Swiss Made.

Welshwatchman.....this is not my watch....i'm thinking of buying and selling used Rolex on the side to make a little extra money....so i'm learning the Rolex businesss....i already had my watch checked out.....its fine(except for the running fast...but doing some research a lot of them will run fast....i went to a AD the other day and he says it happens all the time).....my watch is F serial number and came in a new type box.......besides i had to buy a used watch....its a great way to learn a business.....thats the same way i learned the phone business and i retired at 42(but i was a phoneman by trade)

If you want to get into the flipping business and need to ask multiple authenticity questions on forums based on external pix, I fear you're going to lose a huge chunk of money soon.

okay i will....there seems to be a lot of nice honest helpful people on this forum and i appreciate all the help.....but i'm sure you have your share of crazys ... check out our website if ya have sometime if you want to read some good racing stories...
