Help Finding Cheaper Version Dream Watch/Nautilus

I have recently gotten into watches, and I have really gotten set on the Patek 5711 Nautilus with blue dial. Even though I have the funds, I just can't spend that much on a watch. Maybe in the years to come, as I can see justifying as these things seem to hold their value.
Until then, I am trying to find a watch that emcompasses and does all that the 5711 does in my opinion but cost more in the 5-12K range. It needs to be sporty and dressy at the same time. Want to wear with jeans/polo to suit/tie. So, it needs to be able to be versatile.
I am drawn to the GO's and Jaeger Lecoultre's, but I am open to other suggestions/brands. Please help me get the Patek 5711 Nautilus out of my mind by finding the next best thing. Thanks.

Get the 5711 and forget the rest. You will only regret buying another and sell it at a loss to later pay more for 5711 when they increase price!

Maybe a Trusted Seller can find you one LNIB that is a substantial saving over buying from an AD. If you are so set on that watch anything else you buy won't be good enough over the long term. If you can afford it then treat yourself.

Ha! I hear you all, but I am still thinking of starting in a lower range. I mean right now I have a $500 watch. Jumping to a 20K watch would be a big jump. I don't even know if I can get a used Nautilus for 20K. Any other 12K or cheaper suggestions. I do like the JLC Master Control, Calendar, and Geo. I know the Control comes in a steel bracelet, but I am just assuming the others do. The only thing I saw is that they don't show them on the JLC website in anything other than leather. I don't know why I am digging the Nautilus so much. I normally don't like anything other than a circular shape. Keep them coming!

Used AP 15300 or VC Overseas can be had for the target price, and are the 2nd and 3rd best steel watches in my mind after the Nautilus and Aquanaut.

I hear you. My wife is really cool with stuff like this, as we are both really big savers. Don't spend much on anything other than a few vacations a year. She would be fine with a 5K road bike, but she is still wrapping her head around the watch thing. I guess I am still too when it comes to spending much over 10K. I guess my justifications I can start telling myself are that I would literally just weat this one watch for anything other than working out and that if I ever decided I regretted spending that much on a watch that I could always sell for close to what I got it for. Man, I already sound like a watch addict.
When you talk about substantial savings, how low have you heard anyone getting these for? Thanks.

If I were you I would look at an AP, very similar build quality to the PP, still a top 3 watch brand and it will be in your budget. Good luck!

The VC Overseas is beautiful, and is definitely second behind Nautilus. Not sure how much could acquire used for, so I will look into it. I really like the price of the AP, but it is just a little too clunky for my tastes. Especially if trying to wear with suit and more dressy situations. JMO. I do like the price though.

AP & VC are great watches,
that said they are not the Patek white dial nautilus....

12K is a lot to spend on a 2nd choice?

12K is a ton to spend on a second choice, but I guess that just shows how much I like the Nautilus. I do go back and forth on what color Nautius I prefer, but I guess it doesn't matter. I also like the VC Overseas white chrono, not the plain dial. So, I don' know how close that puts me to a Nautilus price but it is still a ton to spend on my second choice. I will probably end up with one of JLC Master series, Control, Chrono, or Geo. They are nice and should be able to get used for closer to 6-8K. Keep the suggestions coming. Very helpful

Don't settle, you will regret it and sell at a loss.

As mentioned in the other post, a blue dial GO Seventies is a great choice.

Also apparently Gérald Genta preferred the AP design to the PP design.

I do like the 15300, and I am sure like most of these watches it would show even better in person. I sat next to a guy at a coffee shop that had a Nautilus, so I have seen it in person. This really took me over the top on how much I liked it. So, I do need to say that I haven't seen these other suggestions in person, so it isn't quite fair to them. I do like the RO 15300, but it seems a little too sporty to go with a suit for myself. I am sure it looks good with a suit, but it just isn't me. With anything else, I see it would be fine. It would probably dress down a little better than the Nautilus. I also don't love the dial design or color of any of these watches as much as I like the Nautilus in blue or even the white which is unreal. The JLC's also speak to me at a much nicer price, so I am still thinking that will be my entry point. We will see.

Royal Oak 15300 or Ingenieur are definitely your best "2nd" choices...

Royal Oak 15400, which I believe is 41mm is definitely nice. I think I would do well to see that and the VC Overseas in person to compare. I checked out a ton of forum pics on these two, and they are beautiful. Don't know if either quite check the elegant/dress box in the way I felt the PP Nautilus could, but I might just have to get two watches to do that. Not a bad problem to have. Great suggestions.
