reminds me of that timberlake movie where he stood out like a sore thumb because he ran in a city full of rich people. they thought it odd because they had all the time in the world and had no need to run.
I don't think most if us need a watch since I would guess most carry cell phones.

They were't born president, though.

What you say may be true and I'm sure they would never be allowed to be late but a man will have lived 40, 50, 60 years looking at his watch a hundred times a day and it would be weird to then take it off when you become president.

Also he still has a bit of a private life... Maybe he wants to boil an egg or watch a tv program at 9.30...?!

fair point. but that being said, does any of us really need one? the time is everywhere: mobile phones, on the stove/microwave. on your computer. i have many friends who don't wear watches.

The Vulcain Cricket was called the " Presidents Watch" long before Rolex. Eisenhower, Nixon, and Johnson wore them. Eisenhower also wore a Universal Tri Complex (SP?). JFK was seen wearing a tank Cartier and a tank Omega. The Bushe's and Clinton wore Ironmen I believe. Ford was offered a Rolex, turned it down while in office, then he was turned down when he asked for one after he left office. He later purchased one himself.

Any watch is appropriate provided they do their job properly!
Personal preference would be a Speedmaster gifted by NASA.

I was thinking speedmaster would be cool.

But everything has implications nowadays. Especially with the short news cycle. Too bad the implications are only based on cost. I watched a rich political contender go around last election wearing Nixon watches....

I believe that's right. One reason he used to wear Timex was the company was a significant employer in Arkansas, at least when he was governor there.
